5.0 out of 5 stars Atomic Clock keeps excellent time.
The LaCrosse 16" Atomic Gallery Wall Clock is beautiful in appearance if you have a very large area in which to hang it. It is trouble free and keeps excellent time. I would recommend it to anyone needing accurate time and having a large space to fill.

2.0 out of 5 stars Daylight Savings Time Does Not Operate Properly
This clock includes a chip that was designed to change the time. When the new daylight savings time was effective the clock would not reset to the new time. Interestingly the manufacturer has not removed the clocks from inventory or attempted to inform buyers of the issue as of yet. Other than that it is a beautifull clock!

Just got it yesterday. It took a few hours for the clock to adjust to correct time. It is accurate and quiet. It's a beauty too. This is the 4th La Crosse atomic clock in my house (first analog one). GO FOR IT!

It is a very attractive wall clock that keeps accurate time. It is easy to
view from a distant. It also made the time adjustment for day light saving
time.

This is a great clock. When I bought it about a week ago, I put the battery in the clock, and placed it on the wall in my family room where my old clock used to be. That was it. At first the clock appeared to be broken but within 5 minutes it adjusted itself and has been running perfectly ever since. This clock can be seen clearly in my family room from 25ft away. As I get older I like things to be bigger and this clock gets the job done while still looking attractive. My wife likes the clock because she does not confuse the short hand with the long hand from a distance.

I've owned this clock for about a year and a half now, and it is great except that it won't adjust for daylight savings time in the spring. As others have mentioned I've tried everything to reset it, but it always ends up an hour early until fall. The clock is on a wall near large, south-facing windows, and I live by a major city, so radio signal is not the problem. If you live in the central, mountain, or pacific time zones, you could adjust for DST manually by pressing the button for the next time zone over. However, for the Eastern Time Zone, you'll just have to live with it being an hour off all summer. Note that it is not possible to override the radio signal and adjust the clock yourself.

3.0 out of 5 stars daylight savings time fiasco, April 11, 2007

Nice clock, but the change in daylight savings time this year made the atomic clock feature useless for three weeks. A visit to their website noted the problem and the only solution offered is to manually set the clock until the original daylight savings time was scheduled. Then remove and re-insert the battery and allow the clock to set via the radio signal. The website noted that they're NOT SURE how the clock will react in the fall when Standard time resumes, since it will be a week later than normal. I would check with the manufacturer before buying one to see if they have fixed the problem. Oh and vote out everyone who changed the daylight savings/ Standard time dates. It was a useless excercise.

It is a very nice looking clock. I received it in the early afternoon. I placed it on the wall in my home office. It repeatedly failed to adjust itself over the next three hours. I removed it and placed it facing outward against the pane of a North facing window. It adjusted to the correct time within 15 minutes. I rehung it in the home office and it has been keeping good time every since. I am very happy with the value that I received for my money.

This is a beautiful time piece and looks better after it's hung on the wall. The fine woodwork and craftmanship that was put in to this clock makes this a fine addition to my home. The atomic function of the clock works just like it was designed. I put the battery in it and that's it. It took nearly six hours to adjust to the accurate time, but it's designed to receive the radio signal overnight or when you have the best reception . I highly recommend this clock. It is more than I expected.

3.0 out of 5 stars How to work around the DST Daylight Savings Time Bug, November 13, 2010

First this clock, when not switching into or out of Daylight Savings Time, is great. I love it, but twice a year, I have to put up with the fact that it does not know how to handle the Daylight Savings time as broadcast by the WWVB radio towers in Colorado.

For those who don't know, the WWVB broadcasts the time from Colorado. It includes in the broadcast, not only the time and date, but also information which describes Daylight Savings Time, and there are 4 modes: DST Beginning, In Effect, Ending, and Standard time.

The problem is, this clock only knows how to read the In Effect and Standard time modes, which are broadcast most of the year. However, during the few days following the time change, the WWVB broadcasts the Beginning and Ending signals. When this happens, the clock's code gets totally confused and can show either the DST on or off time somewhat randomly. So for a few days afterwards it's completely unreliable, and if you try to re-sync the clock by pulling the battery and pressing the "clear" button manually the clock will not be able to find ANY time at all.

The work around for me, is just to pull the battery out on the Sunday of time change and then wait until Wednesday and put the battery back in.

You may be tempted to think the clock works correctly because on the Sunday morning after the time change, the clock will actually adjust itself correctly. However, sometime later in the day the clock will get confused and flip back or forth an hour, reverting the time change from the night before.

Sadly, River City support seem completely unaware of this issue when I called them, so I'm guessing all their clocks work this way. Hopefully the latest batch of clocks are fixed.
