"River of Dreams", Barclay James Harvest's 1997 studio album was the last of their work prior to their self styled "Sabbatical" to go their seperate ways. The group survived losing one of the founding members (Woolly), law suits from a former arranger, being fired from not one, but two record labels, and an overall shift away from "orchestrated" rock to harder rock. This album really marks the end of an era, and they went out with a bang! The album starts out with "Back in the Game", Les Holroyd's shot at all the critics who thought they were finished, goes to the title track "River of Dreams" (amazingly enough, John Lees' only title song in BJH's history), then to the haunting and beautiful "Yesterday's Heroes", and ends with a great rocker, "The Time Of Our Lives" John Lees has reunited with Woolly on the "Nexus" and "Revival" albums, and Les Holroyd has an album with Mel coming out this spring. Hopefully we will get some more music from this fantastic band, if not, enjoy what they have already done. The official BJH fanclub site has a wealth of information available for those of you who are not familiar with their work. I could not recommend any CD any more than this one, buy it now!!
