Hillsborough River,
By
This review is from: River of the Golden Ibis (Florida Sand Dollar Books) (Paperback)
As a child my parents lived in Temple Terrace on the banks of the Hillsborough River and the river was a huge part of my life. I had a boat and had friends up and down the river that also had boats. We fished, we went camping, we skied, and swam on a daily basis. However, what we enjoyed most was exploring the upper river. It was like stepping back in time.
I didn't even know this book existed until I began to do research for my own book project about the river. As a creationalist and a student of ancient American history I disagree with some of the authors assumptions but I loved the book and found her writing style very absorbing. I certainly learned a lot and it has further kindled my desire to continue my project. The Hillsborough River played such a vital role is the development of Tampa and I highly recommend the book to anyone who has any kind of attachment to the river or has an interest in how Tampa came to be. A Jewel,

This review is from: River of the Golden Ibis (Florida Sand Dollar Books) (Paperback)
This amazing book should stand as a model for historians, environmentalists and poets. The language is exquisite, the metaphors glimmering and the people are "real." A true joy to read and savor.Having newly moved to Tampa, this book is the invitation I need to feel welcomed in an environment very different from the Tennessee I left. The significance of PLACE is celebrated.

Pretty good book mostly correct with a few areas that are general feelings but not really accurate. Still a good book and maintains your interest.
