This is the second edition of this book and I've tried to create an easy to use informative guide to a fairly complicated area. The rock climbing is fantastic and I hope to expose other people to the joy of climbing at the New River Gorge. Climb safely!
About the Author
Steve Cater has written seven guidebooks during the last 8 years. He has traveled and climbed extensively around the world with trips to Antarctica, Australia, Asia and Europe. He is an active climber who also enjoys mountain biking and snowboarding. He also owns and operates a climbing school/guide service (New River Mountain Guides) at the New River Gorge.

This is the best book out there for climbing at the New River and Summersville Lake. Very informative and easy to use. You can't get lost using it. Lots of maps and good descriptions. If you are going to do any climbing at this area, I highly recommend this book! I've used Cater's book and Thompson's and this one is the way to go and another thing, it is cheaper!

The book itself was pretty detailed, but I prefer actual photos of the rock rather than just drawings. Much easier to figure out where you are when you have a pic of the actual wall.
