Editorial Reviews

The course of a river has been compared to the course of a human life. The birth, youthful and old age stages, and the departure. I chose to extend this to include going out to sea, evaporation and clouds to complete the water cycle. How one interprets that analogy to a human life is up to the listener ... Many portrayals of rivers have focussed only on the static beauty of a river scene. Chris Conway wanted to focus on the 'Life' part of the river of life. Music that moves, lives, and flows. As he was writing and recording, spring was in the air, and summer was coming. He wanted to make warm music. In came Brazilian rhythms, and a warm vibe it is to be hoped that the listener can feel, whatever the season. Chris found making this album a hugely rewarding journey with so many diverse influences and genres with instruments unexpectedly coming together, and combining so naturally. Latin American bossa & samba, Celtic, hints of jazz, harmony groups, Indian influences, minimal, chill-out, world music, all blended so well. Acoustic instruments and the state of the art electronics sit together happily too. Altogether making a unity in diversity. Different streams, joining together to make one music - one life - one river. May your journey to the sea be scenic and beautiful, but full of life!
