Simply put, one of the best boot socks ever made. I rotated 5 pair during a 1 year tour in Iraq. They held up fine for the year during long patrols, even when wet. Well made and comfortable with "no blister" toe seams. If you need the best sock to wear with your combat boots, you can be sure these socks will serve you well.

I have had 6 pairs of these socks that I've rotated and worn every single day (except for Sunday) for about 4 years now. Half as a joke, I even wear them with my dress slacks to work (I dress business casual at work), mostly because I've never really seen the need to buy other socks for work and these are so comfortable. I'm barely getting ready to rotate out 4 socks, so just 2 pair's worth, that have gotten holes in the side. If you look at the picture, you can see there is a sort of a seem that comes from the heel towards the ankle bone. That is the place where my socks have started to separate. I'm sure I could tell the difference in the padding if I put on a brand new pair of the same kind of socks, but from my current perspective, they seem like they haven't lost any of their padding or softness over all of the years. They are also awesome at controlling odor, which I assume is mostly because they wick the moisture away from your skin.

I bought my first pair towards the end of my first deployment while in Iraq in 2004. Being in the National Guard, after that I just wore them once a month at drill until 2007 when I went active duty to attend some military schools and then got deployed to Afghanistan for a year. Just before going to those schools is when I started wearing them Monday - Saturday. I still have that first pair from 2004, but couldn't tell you which pair it is for sure because they haven't faded or show obvious differences or anything. I also don't see them as being expensive since their function and durability have made them more than worth it, and I would normally have worn out SEVERAL other pairs of socks in the time it's taken for these socks to start to wear out.

I have been in the Army for a little over 8 years now. I am not infantry but I have had my share of field evironments. I am currently deployed in AFG and needed to get new socks due to the wear and tear (literally) of my old socks. I walk around in nothing but rocks and gravel and noticed the wear on my feet and my boots. I saw and purchased the FOX RIVER on Amazon to give them a try.

I tried a pair the next day and was surprised how thick they felt. They weren't heavy like wool, but you could feel the padding in it which was good. I'm 6 ft and about 250 so I was a little worried that the mid calve sock would run a little short but that wasn't the case. They had a real good elastic feel to it.

You can feel the difference moving around during the day. Also, in this weather my feet always get hot and sweaty but with these socks they mitigate that problem. I am a fan of gold bond baby powder and with these sock the combination really helps when you are moving around and in boots all day in hot weather.

I also bought a pair of under armor boots socks to see how they match up.. more to follow.

In summary, if you are wearing boots all day moving around pay a little extra for some good socks like these. Hopefully they can last through this deployment. If they make it, I will definately write an update on the return home!

I bought one pair of these guys at first, since they were 11 bucks I'd figure I would test them out first before buying a weeks worth of them.

These socks are very comfortable, and very well made. They absorb shock which is very nice, I noticed it right away. Since then, I bought 2 more pairs and plan on buying more soon, enough for one pair a day. I'm on my feet 18 hours a day, and these socks have not let me down for a nano second. the moisture wick is very nice too, my feet stay much dryer. They also have a true fit to them which I've never had with other socks that claim to have it.

I've washed them a lot of times since then and they have not shrunk at all, so no problems there.
Like I said, these fit me perfectly and I have bought the Medium; my shoe size is 10.

I am very happy with my purchase and feel very comfortable buying more soon.

I hope my review has made your purchase choice easier!

Just simply awesome! I have recently been honorably discharged from the marines and let me say Fox River makes the best socks. I bought 10 pair just after boot camp because I wanted to have good socks, after not having good socks in boot camp. These socks lasted me over 3 years of constant everyday use. Kept feet cool and dry and comfortable. They outlasted by Danner Marine boots that fell apart at about 3 years. I still have some of the fox river socks I had in the Marines and still wear them. These do seem to ride up high on the calf but doesnt bother me any. Just simply awesome, well made socks. I bought 10 more pair just because Im afraid they might stop making them.
