Guitar Mastery Captured on disc,
By A Customer
This review is from: River Suite for 2 Guitars (Audio CD)
The recording of Tony Rice and John Carlini is excellent in many ways. It was recorded using a single stereo microphone, which make it sound like you're sitting in a room with Tony and John playing for you. Their talent is unsurpassed on guitar, making anyone who's ever played the guitar envious. If you're looking for a comforting, easy to listen to, collection of pure accoustic guitar. This CD should be first on your list. I've found that I can use it as background music for a small gathering, romantic background music, or I can sit and listen intently to the intricacies of each selection and constantly find something new to be impressed with on this CD.

masters at work,
By Gary T Burns (NJ, USA (home of John Carlini)) - See all my reviews

John Carlini clearly shows his tastful phrasing is only surpassed by his technical mastery here. Tony Rice, a hot bluegrass flatpicker and David Grisman dawg music vet seems to be driven to new highs when pushed there by such skilled players as John or David. The rendition here of a previously recorded Grisman/Rice, dawg version of the tune Develin' is phrased in a super clean style influenced by Carlini. If you love acoustic flat picked guitar at its finest do not pass this one by.
