TINY and cheap,

I thought this would really help organize my kids and put it on a wish list with a bunch of other things, so when my mother in law told me she got this for us, i was anxiously awaiting a more organized room (batman toys EVERYWHERE!), when it arrived not only was i disappointed in the size (not the worst because i could have looked at the dimensions online), but it's largely put together with wooden dowels. there are only 4 "cam locks" to keep the thing semi sturdy. it also has numerous parts that are scratched, peeling and chipping. i have put together a lot of good furniture and a lot of cheap furniture over the years (as you'll do with attempting to organize 3 kids) but this was by far the cheapest and the smallest and the worst waste of money. i can't believe they are trying to charge over a hundred for it normally. here i thought we were getting some sort of deal with it being 40% off. not at all. i still feel gipped. but since it was a gift and it is for a 3 and 1 year old i'm just gonna keep the thing rather than go through the hassle of disassembling it and complaining about it only to get a store credit. (my MIL didn't buy from Amazon because of the shipping and got it from Target.com). back to the size too: you would THINK cubbies were the standard cubby size but the bins are miniscule. 8.5 in by 8.5 in.
also, though not everyone will be concerned about this, it is made in china, like most cheap things. i have now vowed that if i am going to buy cheap furniture it's going to be ikea cheap furniture because at least it goes together better than this and it's made in sweden and they recycle their old pieces. don't waste your money.

Easy to put together but even easier to watch it fall apart. This thing is very wobbly and doesn't even sit straight.

I think we've all purchased particle board furniture at some time in our lives, so I don't think anyone today expects it to be great furniture but a shelving unit made out of "particle" cardboard covered in contact paper is beyond belief! The shelving unit is so inferior that I simply don't know what to do with it other than send it back which I can't because while putting it together, three wooden dowels used to hold the vertical sections together "popped" through the contact paper side breaking the exterior "finish." So now it's my problem.
From the start, the unit arrived damaged but this wasn't due to shipping - the box was fine. The damage I'm speaking of happened at the factory or during packaging. The contact paper was missing in some important exterior areas (like the top!), and in other spots, was lifting away from the cardboard. Then incredibly enough, when I began taking off the stickers used to label each piece for assembling, they pulled away more contact paper! Absolutely TERRIBLE quality for an absurd price. Be forewarned. Do not waste your money like I did. The only redeemable thing about this unit is the canvas boxes, which are cute, but so what? For the money? Absolutely not worth it!
