TINY and cheap,

I thought this would really help organize my kids and put it on a wish list with a bunch of other things, so when my mother in law told me she got this for us, i was anxiously awaiting a more organized room (batman toys EVERYWHERE!), when it arrived not only was i disappointed in the size (not the worst because i could have looked at the dimensions online), but it's largely put together with wooden dowels. there are only 4 "cam locks" to keep the thing semi sturdy. it also has numerous parts that are scratched, peeling and chipping. i have put together a lot of good furniture and a lot of cheap furniture over the years (as you'll do with attempting to organize 3 kids) but this was by far the cheapest and the smallest and the worst waste of money. i can't believe they are trying to charge over a hundred for it normally. here i thought we were getting some sort of deal with it being 40% off. not at all. i still feel gipped. but since it was a gift and it is for a 3 and 1 year old i'm just gonna keep the thing rather than go through the hassle of disassembling it and complaining about it only to get a store credit. (my MIL didn't buy from Amazon because of the shipping and got it from Target.com). back to the size too: you would THINK cubbies were the standard cubby size but the bins are miniscule. 8.5 in by 8.5 in.
also, though not everyone will be concerned about this, it is made in china, like most cheap things. i have now vowed that if i am going to buy cheap furniture it's going to be ikea cheap furniture because at least it goes together better than this and it's made in sweden and they recycle their old pieces. don't waste your money.

Easy to put together but even easier to watch it fall apart. This thing is very wobbly and doesn't even sit straight.

I think we've all purchased particle board furniture at some time in our lives, so I don't think anyone today expects it to be great furniture but a shelving unit made out of "particle" cardboard covered in contact paper is beyond belief! The shelving unit is so inferior that I simply don't know what to do with it other than send it back which I can't because while putting it together, three wooden dowels used to hold the vertical sections together "popped" through the contact paper side breaking the exterior "finish." So now it's my problem.
From the start, the unit arrived damaged but this wasn't due to shipping - the box was fine. The damage I'm speaking of happened at the factory or during packaging. The contact paper was missing in some important exterior areas (like the top!), and in other spots, was lifting away from the cardboard. Then incredibly enough, when I began taking off the stickers used to label each piece for assembling, they pulled away more contact paper! Absolutely TERRIBLE quality for an absurd price. Be forewarned. Do not waste your money like I did. The only redeemable thing about this unit is the canvas boxes, which are cute, but so what? For the money? Absolutely not worth it!

Here's a better option,
This review is from: RiverRidge Kids 6 Bin Storage Cabinet, Espresso (Kitchen)
After reading the reviews about this storage unit I decided to do some more research. I found a great product at Home Depot from Martha Stewart. It is much bigger than this and reasonably priced! I think if you like the look and concept of this product you will love the Martha Stewart options.

When you put the item together it is not stable and falls apart. The hardware doesn't operate properly to hold the item together. It's junk. Even if you attempt to add screws, it is made so cheap that it just breaks and falls apart. Do not recommend.

Perfect for Our Needs,

We needed a toy organizer for my son's room. His previous one was collapsing from the sheer weight of his toys. This piece was perfect for our needs. We didn't need yet another piece of expensive furniture, just something sturdy. Why spend a lot of money when all it is doing is holding toys?
After the easy assembly, we tested the piece and there was no wobble. The baskets are well constructed and just the right size for a young child. Surprisingly, they hold quite a bit. Any larger and the contents could overwhelm a toddler. You really do no want a child pulling out a large basket full of toys off a shelf. The height is optimal for small children. They can reach all the baskets as well as whatever you place on top of the unit without much trouble. Lastly, the colorful baskets make the unit a bright spot in the bedroom. All in all, the storage cabinet makes the room look tied together because it matches the rest of our furniture. Only thing that bothered us was that the backing for the unit was badly scratched. However, since it was on the inside of the piece, a furniture marker could fix the scratches such that you would not see them if the baskets were removed.

I love this toy organizer. The sleek dark wood finish makes it more of a piece of furniture than just a place to store toys. It was easy to assemble and the colorful cloth bins (which are included)are adorable and fit nicely into the cubby holes. My only criticism would be that the cubby holes are not deep enough. If it would be a little deeper, I could store some bigger toys in there. Overall, it is well worth the money and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to organize but also wants the room to look beautiful!

This little cabinet is cute, good quality and great for sorting toys! Makes clean-up quick and easy! My two year old can easily sort his toys into these baskets during clean-up time; a task that was challenging without the little bins. Good functionality and aesthetically pleasing.

Waste of Money,

This is the biggest piece of crap, waste of money I ever spent. Its flimsy, cheaply made, came in scratched, dented, and at one point it was damaged before and attempted to be fixed. Probably a return, tried to make it look fixed, then sent back out to some sucker like myself. Unfortunately, I didnt notice the attempted fix (TOP) until after it was built and the TOP was the last piece to put together. I will not waste my time taking it apart and repacking it to send it back for a refund. Taking the loss and dealing with it. My 2 year old can beat the heck out of it till it falls apart (probably in a week) then I will go to a different company and buy a different one. I truely believe you get what you pay for, however for $70.00 I expected so much more and something not made by chinese chimpanzees for cheap labor and a bunch of cardboard glued together. THIS IS JUNK - DO NOT BUY THIS UNLESS YOU LIKE THROWING YOUR MONEY OUT THE WINDOW. JUST SEND A CHECK TO CHINA AND THANK THEM FOR NOTHING.

It's small and has a good deal of storage for such a compact piece of furniture. Since we have an older and smaller house, it's ideal for us.
