I own several books on Diego Rivera, this new Taschen book is the only one I'd ever need. It's HUGE with to start with, then it has nearly poster sized fold-out illustrations, beautifully crisp close ups of his murals (yes, all of them). The book also includes some of his easel paintings, although the emphasis is on his mural work plus preliminary drawings. If only there was such a book on the rest of my favorite painters, this one is a milestone in art-book publishing, period. Like it's tailor made for artists, and a bargain at the price.

Taschen's XL art series is wonderful in it's own right but this just might be the best they've yet produced. This enormous tome is superb in it's execution. The picture quality is the absolute best and several of the murals are presented as foldouts allowing the rich colorful images to pop off the page. Copious amounts of information, including photos and diagrams are included to give the history and make-up of the pieces even more depth. If you have the money and the space this is the best book on Rivera that you will find.

This product is fantastic! It's not a book for the light weight as it is physically heavy to hold. However due to its enormous size, it means you get to see all Rivera's amazing detail close up.

The commentary is interesting and informative about the history and politics that influenced Rivera's art. Seeing the vast number of murals he painted in his lifetime in one book, makes one appreciate his skill and patience.

My one criticism - the excessive packaging by Amazon. It arrived in a massive box full of plastic - this really was unnecessary and I hope Amazon will reduce the amount of packaging it uses.

It doesn't get any better than this. I first saw the book at a friend's house and could not get home fast enough to order it. Couldn't wipe the smile off my girlfriends face when the book arrived addressed to her. We still look through it every day. Brilliant!

Having recently returned from an absolutely fantastic holiday in Mexico I was keen to relive the experience. A quick search of Amazon and I found exactly what I wanted. The book arrived within a week of ordering,well packaged and in pristine condition. I'll miss the sheer size and power of El Hombre Controlador Del Universo, miss that wonderful man who on our first day in Mexico excitedly explained brush stroke by brush stroke the political intrigue and depth; we were indeed privileged. Quite by chance that same wonderful man was at the Diego Rivera museum in the last hours we were in Mexico City. Once again he shared the intricacies of Sueno de una tarde dominical with us.
This book is the next best thing to being there.

This book is outstanding in many aspects - quality of printing, size, scope and editorial biograph.
It is a treasure for every true red-blooded Diego Rivera fan. The size of the book is 12" x 17.5" x 2.5".
So far, it is the most comprehensive study and reproduction of Diego's murals. It starts with his 1921 rendition of the CREATION at the Old College of San Ildefonso (1920s), and goes on to his to works at the Mexican Ministry of Education, the University of Chapingo, the Palacio Nacional, the Palacio de Cortez, the Detroit Institute of Arts, Rockefeller Center in New York, New Workers School in New York, San Francisco City College, Moscow's Pushkin State Museum of Art, Mexico's National Institute of Cardiology, the La Raza Medical Center and the Museo Anahuacalli, and his last works at the Ciudad Universitaria in Mexico in 1957...a span of 37 years.

This is the best book ever about Rivera's murals work's. The book has a comprehensive list of murals and Rivera's WOrks and the image quality is excellents.

My husband is a historian whose work involves art and culture in modern Latin America, so I got this for him as a birthday gift. It is absolutely gorgeous. All his friends are jealous! Amazon's price is great and the shipping was very thoughtful; even though it's a huge and heavy volume, it was well-padded and came through the mail in perfect shape. The color plates are fabulous, with fold-out pages to get the scope of the murals and lots of insets for greater detail, as well as plenty of text for a truly complete picture of Rivera's murals.

I have never seen anything like this book! It is larger than a volume of the Oxford English Dictionary and heavier. The paper is heavy and the quality of the reproductions superb -- not as good as seeing the originals but very close. If you love Diego Rivera's work this book is a must. However, be warned -- the book is heavy, it is large and will occupy a significant portion of whatever space you have devoted to books. It deserves its own space in a corner of a room on a reading stand just like people used to do with the Webster Unabridged Dictionary. I do not see how the book can be produced for the price Amazon is selling it for; probably one of the best gift bargains around.

This book is HUGE-doesn't even fit in my bookcase, and heavy-almost 20 lbs. This is the only book that you will ever need to have on Diego Rivera. it is so complete and so easy to get lost in. Worth every penny!
