The Riverdales are Brilliant Punk Rockers.
Every tune is infectious.
Buzzsaw guitar driven Punk at its best.
Punk Rock with a Pop twist makes for enjoyable listening.
An amazing band that deserves recognition.

wow! i can remember riding in my car with my friends rocking out to operation ivy, early nofx, bad religion and this cd. Thinking back to then made me break this out, give it a listen and its just as good now as it was then. The songs are short in creativity but has to be one of the best to wander out of the ashes of the ramones. this is also a great example of where punk rock was at the time. If u are new to the riverdales then try this one and the streets... to start off with.

I was once asked the question, "If you had one album that would play inside your head over and over until the day you died--which album would it be?" This Riverdales record was my answer--and still is.

Ok so you know that it's basically Screeching Weasel redux Ramones, and perhaps you know that Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day fame helped produce this record, but did you know that the legendary Rev. Norb of Green Bay Wisconsin's Boris the Sprinkler is the speed talking DJ on "Fun Tonight"? Bonus points for you if you did! And If you know what the "27" stands for--you deserve a new car!

Every one of these songs is pure punk rock. I saw these guys open for Green Day on the Insomniac tour in 1995, and they shook every person in that crowd. Their music is straightforward providing the tone and backdrop for the power and emotion of the words. But those words are incoherent. I've been listening to this record since 1995 and I still don't have a clue what Ben is saying half the time, but it doesn't make a difference. If you listen to "Plan 13" and try to write down the lyrics you won't be able to do it, but you will definitely agree that it's a great song.

The Riverdales have put out three records to this date. This is the first, the one that set the stage for the rest. It documents the punk themes of love, angst, and the inevitable search for something to do on Friday nights. This album is essential Punk Rock, and with the exception of "Yesterday's Kids" I haven't heard anything this good in a long time. Buy it and listen to it over, and over, and over again.

for some who don't know, The Riverdales is Screeching Weasel minus one, and if Screeching Weasel wasn't Ramones-ish enough, then you need to check out these guys. very awesome punk rock treats here. there are only about 4 songs on the whole cd i listen to, but you should buy this cd for one song only, and that's "Back To You".........that song is frickin' awesome. get this.

this the best album that the riverdales have. so if you wanna listen to the riverdales you should get this one.the best song from here is "shes gonna brake your heart." if you like the ramones you will like the riverdales.

If you like the Ramones (simple, catch-y, 50's based style), then check out the Riverdales. The best tracks, IMHO, are Back to You and In Your Dreams. This album moves at a good clip all the way through...and not so fast that you trip on the lyrics while singing. I would love to see them in a bar ....and they make good beach music.....the guitar work is GOOD too.

This is the first release from the Riverdales (a Screeching Weasel side project). Playing straight forward Ramones inspired punk rock, it is a can't miss release. The band has put out two other records over the years but this disk has aged well and continues to impress even after all these years. With the Weasel, Panic, and Vapid line up in top form you know you are getting top quality music.

i guess covering an entire ramones LP with screeching weasel was not enough homage for ben to do, so he sheds jughead, reuniting with vapid and panic, to form this "new" band. i appreciate the liza & louise reference in "fun tonight," but i'm sorry, i didn't feel like i had as much fun listening to it as they did recording it.

While this album is out of print currently, it is to be reissued by Asian Man Records on Oct 10, 2006. People are selling this CD for as much as $50 when it will be available brand new and remastered for $8 if you wait until October...
