Well there's only one thing to say about the Riverdance for Rwanda....Fantastic. For those of you that don't know, Riverdance for Rwanda is THE original Riverdance...and all the proceeds of the video went to helping those people in Rwanda at the time, therefore the title. Before anyone knew Michael Flatley and Jean Butler, before Lord of the Dance. This is where Flatley shot to fame and cashed in on the idea.Most of the Irish dancers are Irish, but Flatley and a few others are American. It was originally a half time show in the 1994 Eurovision Song Contest held in Ireland that year...I can't remember exactly if it was held in Dublin or Milstreet...since Ireland hosted it so many years in a row because we won it so many years in a row...Oh the bragging rights! Either way, this is what started the worldwide phenomena...and in my opinion they should never ever ever have changed it. It's haunting, fascinating and spellbinding. And every year since, each country that has hosted the Eurovision Song Contest has featured a knock off of Riverdance to their own national music. So that'll tell ya! It's a very short piece. Not even 15 minutes long, but it's amazing howthis short showcase of Irish song music and dance became what it is today...Flatley's cash cow :) Besides, who wouldn't want to see Michael Flatley's lovely flyaway mullet???
