PhotoShow Deluxe 2.1.1 by Simple Star (published for retail by Broderbund) is a basic, very easy-to-use digital photograph manager and creative projects program that seems geared towards beginner and casual users with shallow requirements. PhotoShow Deluxe provides tools to create desktop wallpaper, screensavers, slideshows that run on computers, slideshow Video CDs that play on DVD players, and HTML photo galleries. The program integrates with a Simple Star website that enables users to purchase mugs, tee-shirts, mouse pads, puzzles, and playing cards based on their photographs. PhotoShow Deluxe also integrates with ShutterFly.com to enable users to share photographs and order prints via the Internet.

The photograph slideshow generator in PhotoShow Deluxe is easily the best among consumer-grade digital library management software, including those in PhotoShop Album 2 and ACDSee 6. Whereas other slideshow modules provide only transition effects (i.e., between pictures), PhotoShow Deluxe has delightful special effects that work on the pictures themselves, including picture frames, animated clipart (flying pink elephants, falling leaves, etc.), balloon text captions and video effects (flicker, blur, old film, etc.). ly, like other slideshow generators in its class, PhotoShow Deluxe lacks a timeline management component. As a result, it is nearly impossible to synchronize soundtracks to a slideshow. Because the program keeps all transition effects and special effects active until overridden, the lack of timeline management also makes it difficult to track effects by frame.

This version of PhotoShow Deluxe has a bug that limits to the program to a 800 x 600 pixel display on my 1400 x 1050 pixel screen.

PhotoShow Deluxe 2.1.1 is a good introductory program with a great slideshow module, but it may be quickly outgrown by regular users. Hopefully future versions will address the PhotoShow Deluxe's structural deficiencies while retaining the program's ease-of-use.

I bought this program thinking I could make nice slideshows with transitions and effects to play on my dvd player (vcd). Unfortunately transitions and effects don't work when you make a video cd, when you go to broderbund help page they tell you that's how it's supposed to be. If I had known that I would not have gotten this program. I gave it two stars because I suppose if you're just using it to make e-mails or cd-roms it would work all right.

I bought this software on the internet directly from the simplestar web page, I think this option to buy because some of this products can be shipped only in the U.s and this one no, other advantage is that they allow you to download for free to test and the if you like it they send you the "key" and you just type it and it`s yours!!,also the upgrade is free.
You must wonder "why if she liked it she put 4 stars?" well I did that because I don`t agree that once you buy it they offer you extra images but for a cost! I mean you are a client you have to have some "privileges" and as the upgrade get free combo packages of images. What I don't like and simplestar should work on are the facts that 1.-they don't have a mac version 2.-when you finish doing a musical slideshow and you want to share it by e-mail they ask you to use their music and not yours!! this is bad, imagine your disey trip pics with an unknown song instead of any disney tune!! 3.- the service they offer of sending a DVD is a good idea but if they don't have the complete service... what I mean is that this service has the same music problem I mentioned before.
They can do better than this.

But I reccomend you to buy if you want to make slideshows with funny images, text and music (mp3) plus the feature of build a pic to put it on your desktop.
