This is a wonderful, poetic short story collection. The writing is like lightening. Some of stories (Uke River Delivers & Bitterwolf) rank among the finest stories I've ever read.R.T. Smith's writing, though charged, controlled, and always rhythmic is sometimes hard to follow. But so is Laurence Durrell and James Joyce. And, I dare say, they couldn't write stories with such historical, emotional flair. I highly recommend this to anyone, especially those interested in intelligent, Southern literary fiction. |
