It's worth the money, trust me.

There's this kind of hook on the handle that makes it more ergonomic and helps you get a more natural grip.

In addition to being a fun novelty, this looks like it will last a good long while.

I've completely changed my review. I thought this was 'just okay' but in fact now that I've used it for a few months it's the first fly swatter I grab everytime I need one. The rod is a bit stuff and I'm still concerned with how long the plastic swatter head is going to last and I see no way to replace it. But it's been a couple of months and probably a thousand swats and it's still working great. I love the handle. (It just looks marvelous.) I admit I was initially drawn to it by the 'fly fishing' pitch, but it's really a good fly swatter and not just a gimic. It's also longer than any other swatter I've used and the head is about 30% bigger than the normal ones. I very rarely miss with this thing. Even the big horse flys are no match. My only complaint is that when I pick it up, I wish I was really fly fishing and not just killing flys. :)

UPDATE: 1 year later and it's still my favorite fly swatter and still in great condition. Really it looks like the day I got it and it's killed thousands of flys. Maybe the last fly swatter I will ever have to buy.

UPDATE: 2 years later and it's still the best fly swatter I've ever used. Still looks like the day I got it. Bought several more to give away as gifts. Everyone loves it.

UPDATE: 4+ years and the swatter is still working. However my 2 year old now kills everything with it and he's managed to beat it to death. It's still working, but it has seen it's better days. However, if you can keep it out of kids hands and only use it as it was intended, I don't see why this could not last 5+ years. As it is, I have made many repairs to it (due to my son's abuse) and it's still functional about 80%. I'll be back to buy another one and just let him kill the first one.

We have 4 kids that never shut the door. We get flies. Having tried the amish ones, the wire ones and the other shooting type guy swatters, nothing compares to this one's build and quality. It's designed to last a while and I've taken about 50 flies thus far.

OK, so I haven't tried every fly swatter on the planet, BUT, I have tried enough to know that this product REALLY works! Every other traditional (i.e. non-electric) fly swatter I have owned has been "hit or miss" when it comes to actually hitting the flies...I think the biggest reason for this is that most other fly swatters make a "swishing" sound through the air before making contact with their targets. With this one, I have not missed a single shot so far, except when I tried to kill some that were hanging out in my bathroom sink (bad angle and surface for trying to go after flies; definitely not the fly swatter's fault). I just killed 2 flies in 1 swoop that were hanging out on my window screen. That impressed me.
We've had nice weather lately so I had been letting the back door open (which doesn't have a screen) to let some fresh air in, which has let in a lot of flies. The fly swatter I had wasn't doing a great job, so I bought this one and couldn't be more pleased. The long handle allows me to not have to stand as close to the fly before swatting at it, thereby not alerting said fly of its would-be terminator beforehand. And I love the hook on the fly swatter which has allowed me to find a perfect place for it in the cupboard, out of sight.
The next time you have to buy a new fly swatter, if you make this purchase, I don't think you'll regret it.

These swatters are expensive, but well worth the money. The long handle grip is exceptional with the thumb attachment for sure handling and the firm end of swatter firm and reliable. Mine is bright yellow helping me to see where the zone is when swatting. The killing zone is oversized allowing great coverage of moving flies. I can see why it was named a river fishing rod fly swatter as it is easily handled in quick order.

My girlfriend rolled her eyes when I busted this overtly long fly-swatter out of the box but I knew better! After buying other cheaper fly-swatters that came in packages of five I felt the need to go a different route. Instead of buying 5 fly-swatters that broke after being used as severely as the toddler we live with and my girlfriend use them, I decided to buy a more pricey singular swatter that is pretty ridiculous.

So here we are, I am now rating a fishing-pole themed fly-swatter that is a lot bigger than your average fly-swatter and costs more, to boot. I'm not into fishing, flies aren't a constant plague in my life, but this purchase is still something I will never ever regret. The length gives it an edge over most flies, you don't have to be so sneaky. The handle is soft and for all I know it does nothing to better my grip but the trigger hold still seems handy to me somehow.

The only drawback I can think of is a rather weak one: the top part of the foamy handle unscrews. This seems useless because you can't take it off as it's blocked by the killing portion and that alone is kind of annoying. But this is downright banal if I'm being honest...but solid reviews always have some cons going with their pros, so, well, yeah.

It's worth the money, trust me.

Minus one star for not being the nice blue pictured and not mentioning that it came in assorted colors on the product description. If that doesn't matter to you, this is a great fly swatter that packs a punch. When I'm swatting flies in the air and not against a hard surface, I feel like I'm at least injuring those f-ers with the force of this swatter. The extra long handle is great for my short self, and I imagine also for regular and tall sized people to reach those high places.
