5.0 out of 5 stars An Amazing and Fun Read!
Ignore "School Library Journal's" totally untrue and blatant review. "The Rivers of Zadaa" delivers. MacHale once again had me on the edge of my seat in this new volume with suspense, action, drama ... and a little bit of romance. Bobby Pendragon is on Loor's home territory of Zadaa where two enemy tribes, the Batu and the Rokador, are on the brink of war due to a...

3.0 out of 5 stars maybe its just me
i'm not sure but i read this book over the summer and it was a little bit boring. the story line was pretty good but somehow it didn't get me so interested as the other 5 books. i mean it's not that interesting as i thought it would be. the part that bored me was when "the group" was the last 70 pages. i was so bored during that time that i even thought about skipping a...

(REAL NAME)
Ignore "School Library Journal's" totally untrue and blatant review. "The Rivers of Zadaa" delivers. MacHale once again had me on the edge of my seat in this new volume with suspense, action, drama ... and a little bit of romance. Bobby Pendragon is on Loor's home territory of Zadaa where two enemy tribes, the Batu and the Rokador, are on the brink of war due to a devastating drought. It is unclear to Bobby whether Saint Dane tinkered with Zadaa's turning point or whether the war was really meant to be. The "Library Journal" was right about one thing and that's Bobby matures as a character in this volume. Bobby isn't a character who uses fancy speech; he's walks, talks, and acts just like you and me and that's what makes the Pendragon series so enjoyable is the talent that MacHale has to fuse reality with fantasy and make his characters relatable to every kid out there. This popular and just plain fun series got so much more exciting after this volume and it opened so much more mysterious questions (along with some amazing discoveries about the traveler's powers). I for one cannot wait for book seven; The Quillian Games!

5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding series for kids, teens ... even adults!, August 11, 2005
My 11-year old daughter wanted me to read the first Pendragon book when she finished it. I've now purchased and read all of them and have recommended this series to many friends. All of the books are complex and interesting stories that, unlike many books aimed at this age group, manage to avoid adult situations and language. At the same time, there are important themes in the books that are excellent conversation topics with young teens because Bobby Pendragon and his friends are faced with situations where right and wrong are not clearly defined and where they have to deal with the consequences of the mistakes that they make. Highly recommended for 10-14 year olds, although younger ones would need to be good readers.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Book, With A New Twist, June 29, 2005
This is a great book, as good as, if not better than, the first 5 books (I finished this book in 5 hours). As the 6th book in one of the best series I've ever read, I highly recommend this book to people who like fantasy genre, or who just like to read. There's also a surprising new twist in this book for people who are already Pendragon fans, one that you really don't want to miss, along with an interesting ending. A must-have, must-read book, the only downside being that Loor and Bobby on the cover don't look as good as I thought they would, and the cover still looks really cool :D.

5.0 out of 5 stars This book rocks, October 16, 2005
By
While I was browsing through Amazon, I kept wondering why the heck was everyone making such a big deal at the arrival of the sixth Pendragon series. So I started from book number 1 and worked my way up the series. Every single day, I was begging my mom to take me to the book store and get a new Pendragon book. I was that desperate. And for a good reason....

Once again, the great D.J. MacHale arrives with a book that just rocks and shines above all science fiction books. The Rivers of Zadda just sucks readers into an intense water war with another scheme from the evil Saint Daine. More suspense. More action. More surprises. I was just flipping through the pages, so absorbed into the world that D.J. MacHale painted with his words.

Read this book!! Just to not give any details away..... Pendragon discovers his love for Loor, his fellow Traveler partner, and also discovers a new power among the Travelers. I just can't wait for the Quillan Games to come out!! The Pendragon Series are that good!

5.0 out of 5 stars things just keep getting better and better, June 19, 2005
A Kid's Review
This book was as amazing as, if not more, than the past 5 books (I have not read the complete guide to the territories... but it's something i now want very badly!!)I could literally NOT STOP READING. I finished it in a day, reading from 6 PM to 2 AM. This book was thrilling and kept me at the edge of my seat. Even though I could predict the plot (as in, guessing what was going to happen in the next scene before it happened), MacHale still kept my hooked with his riveting descriptions and insightful views and feelings from Bobby. The (like always) cliffhanger ending keeps me yearning for more. YOU SHOULD REALLY READ THIS BOOK!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Wonderful, June 30, 2005
MacHale yet again has turned out another masterpiece. The Rivers of Zadaa is by far the best in the Pendragon series. Throughout the book you think you have it all figured out, and it changes on a whim. In this book you learn more about the Travelers and what they can do and you get to dive into their emotions. MacHale has presented a much more mature book than the preceeding five. The non-stop action is still there and the incessant cliff-hangers are still there (especially at the end of the book), but all this is also accompanied by the introduction of the Travelers' relationships and feelings. Being able to sort through their emotions and serve the greater good is a tough challenge, and one that the Travelers are constantly facing. MacHale does a superb job of tying all the aspects of the novel into one riveting piece. Order your copy today and enjoy!

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing book, October 18, 2005
A Kid's Review
Actually I'm 16, but I don't want a membership. Anyways....

D.J. MacHale outdoes himself with the 6th installation of Pendragon with The Rivers of Zadaa. D.J. mixes a ton of different things to blend into this amazing story. Bobby finally starts to like Loor and show his emotions in his journals. There's a big problem in Zadaa, Loor home world, and of course Saint Dane is there to edge it on. In Zadaa everyone above the surface is losing water as the rivers are going dry.
I don't want to say everything so...
Saint Dane almost kills Bobby, Loor ends up in trouble, Courtney deals with her problems and Mark gets friendly with a thug!
If I have anything to say about this novel is that it has an astonishing ending. You will be turning pages as the story rolls on and the book is very exciting!
Thank you for reading!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good, but familiar, May 16, 2006
Make no mistake. I loved this book. It had action, romance, and of course, the typical Pendragon high-flying adventure. The relations between Bobby and Loor keep you guessing, and the ongoing saga of Mark Dimond stays interesting as well (though his side of the story in book 5 was a hard act to follow up). But (since this is, after all, a critical review) it was pretty familiar. Like Merchant of Death, there are two opposing tribes. Like MoD, the whole thing ends with a *SPOILER ALERT* big shebang, when the Rokador underground fortress is destroyed (suspiciously like what happened to the Batu Castle). Also, I have to admit (and this is just my opinion) that I am starting to get a little tired of Courtney sitting about feeling sorry for herself. The reasons are clear, and if I myself was the writer, I might do just the same, but the parts about Courtney were the only bits I wanted to skip (fear not! I did not make the cardinal sin and flip past). On the whole, though, I really have to say that this was a good book, and I really enjoyed it. The "training" sequence in the dessert was especially good, and the ending segment left me longing for the next book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Spectacular, January 7, 2006
A Kid's Review
The story was amazing and spectacular. There was not even a boring part in it. I can't really put it down and almost got scolded by mum because I took 6 hours reading non-stop to finish that book.(I read slowly) DJ Machale really know how to take children's heart in it. Excellent author!
