5.0 out of 5 stars One of the few complete and perfect albums, November 19, 2002

My girlfriend is Canadian and a fan of the Hip. She took me to a live show here in Denver and now I'm hooked. This was the third album I've purchased of theirs and it's by far the best. Growing up on rock and roll this is one of the few complete albums without one bad song, well maybe Fiddler's Green, but the rest is fantastic. "On The Verge" is still my favorite. This IS rock and roll at it's best. I don't think you can play this one too loud.

5.0 out of 5 stars Quintessential Hip. Best they ever did!, September 28, 2009
This review is from: Road Apples (MP3 Download)
I know that many Hip fans will espouse many of the other albums. But pretty much all Hip fans will at least admit that this is really their masterpiece. Unbelievable complex lyrics, crazy riffs and ups and downs. This album came out at the new dawn of new music and should have propelled them to the front with such icons as Pearl Jam and Nirvana. I have listened to this album about 200 times now. Can't be beat.

5.0 out of 5 stars Buy this NOW!, September 29, 1999

Fire up your RealPlayer and give a listen to Three Pistols, Cordelia (This song really rocks...) and Little Bones. If you're not hooked you probably need to put on life-support! These Canooks really rock, and this is one of their better discs to jam to. Buy It!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best mix of seventies music with a nineties touch, April 22, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Road Apples (Audio CD)
The album road apples is a very clean album, it gives you a clear sight on rock music. The songs are originals which will rest in your head for a long time. On this album is not one song less catchy. I did hear the hip with 149 visitors in my hometown in 1990. It was the best concert ever.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of my old time favorites!, August 23, 1998

This was actually the first cd of The Tragically Hip I discovered, by hearing this crazy but beautiful song, called Little Bones on a Dutch radio station. From that moment on, I was sold. The cd still has a great sound, also compared to their later work. You can really place it in between their first big cd (Up To Here) and their later stuff. It has something for everyone. In short, the cd is a perfect mixture of 'make you wanna shout along'-songs and songs that are fragile and beautiful and which you just want to enjoy in silence and admiration. And the last song really is a little gem, just long enough, so that it leaves you craving for more...

Great cd, by a Great band..Just was a major disappointment, the cd was transferred from Analog Tape to Cd format...Makes for muffled Vocals, and thats a shame, Downie is one of the most original ive heard in a long time...But for die hard "TH" fans, its a must have...!!

5.0 out of 5 stars If you dislike todays "rock?" Try this one out!!, December 9, 2011

I'm stuck in the past with my musical likes.I'm a classic rock/metal or hard rock fan.Todays music does NOTHING for me with few exceptions.I spend A LOT of time on here and you tube looking for some music that does something for me.I stumbled across this, and it somewhat grabbed me right away.I downloaded the MP3 never hearing any of the Hips songs.I really liked it.It took me some getting used to the singers voice (sounds a little R.E.M.ish)but it is actually a great voice.I had no idea just HOW MUCH this release would grow on me.I find myself playing it all of the time. The band is really tight with amazing playing, and clever lyrics.I can easily say that this is in my top 5 albums of all time.I checked out their other works and didn't care to much for them, but, they have a song called New Orleans Is Sinking which I really dig.If you are like me, and are craving something that will actually rock you and move you to appreciate good music, then this is the album to purchase. It's also a good clean production that sounds good!! I haven't liked an album this much in a very long time.FYI,my tastes are ac/dc,Bad Company,Johnny Lang,Judas Priest,April Wine, old Aerosmith,Brother Cane's 1st release,Lynyrd Skynrd,John Hiatt (especially his Perfectly Good Guitar album!!),Zeppelin,Molly Hatchet,Nazareth, the 1st three RIOT albums,Robin Trower's Bridge Of Sighs,Van Halen,Metallica, and Corrosion of Conformity's Wiseblood album.I like a lot more than I mentioned, but you get the just of it.I am 48 and still like to rock hard, but I also find that the older I get the more I appreciate good songwriting with a little more of a laid back approach. This album is the best of both worlds!!No matter my mood, this one hits the spot.My intent on writing this review is in hopes that someone like me (who's musical likes are similar)would have something more in a review to base their buying decision on. So if you think today's music sucks, and you like the stuff mentioned here,I'm pretty sure you will like this. And if you don't mind, drop me a line about something you like that I might appreciate as well. Thanks, and enjoy your new awesome Hip album!!
