A Must Have For Avonlea Fans,
By
This review is from: Road To Avonlea - The Complete Fourth Volume (DVD)
I now own all four seasons of Road to Avonlea on DVD that are currently available. So far this is my favorite one since it brings the Felicity/Gus romance to the forefront with some added tension in the form of Arthur Pettitbone who is also interested in the charming Felicity King. This is also the beginning of Felix's job at the White Sands Hotel which is quite entertaining. There are the usual guest celebs like Diana Rigg and Robby Benson and Treat Williams. I highly recommend this and all other seasons of this delightful series.

This great family-friendly series brings back great memories from my childhood; I would definitely consider this my favorite TV show of all time! Each episode is full of sweet moments, family life, exciting adventures, beautiful scenery, and much more. The content of these is minimal: it's a very family-friendly series, with only a few episodes with some objectionable content (like the Witches of Avonlea episode in the early Seasons). Do yourself a favor and check out this amazing series produced by Sullivan in Canada, the same company who brought up "Anne of Green Gables" and "Anne of Avonlea" in the 90's with Megan Follows. Enjoy these fantastic episodes again and again!
Includes the original 13 Episodes from Season 4: -Tug of War -The Lady and the Blade -Incident at Vernon River -Boys Will Be Boys -Moving On -Evelyn -The Dinner -Heirs and Graces -Hearts and Flowers -Felicity's Perfect Beau -The Disappearance -Home Movie -Hearth and Home Special Guest Appearances include: Treat Williams, Meg Tilly, Robby Benson, Diana Rigg, and others! This heartwarming series of "Road to Avonlea" which originally aired on the Disney channel as "Avonlea", includes a few of my favorite episodes: "The Dinner", "Hearts & Flowers", and "Felicity's Perfect Beau"...

Charming children and adults get into various fun predicaments. If you liked "Little House on the Prairie" or "Anne of Green Gables"; you should like this. Seasons 1-6 are excellent. Beautiful scenery, farm, horses, period costumes and sets, pretty dresses, realistic characters, likeable characters, lively pace, some humor, and inviting activities, carry you to a nicer place. The episode, "The Lady and the Blade" (writer: Deborah Nathan) adds the interesting new characters: the new school teacher, Colonel Clive Pettibone, and his stand-at-attention children. Clive and Hetty are aspiring daring-adventure & romance novelists. The episode "Hearts and Flowers" (writer: Hart Hanson) has Chef Pierre La Pierre's truly French niece coming to visit from her convent school and becoming infatuated with a completely innocent (Goose Pike) Gus, to the jealously of Felicity. This season has my favorite episode, "The Dinner" (writer: Heather Conkie) Felicity desires to be courted by Gus without the teasing of the other children. If they can only talk alone. The very end is so subtle, yet so funny, an absolutely brilliant ending. Mr. Sullivan spared no expense to create a variety of warm and humorous escapades. This series has been my best money value; dividing the 13-episodes by the cost: $51÷13 episodes = $3.92 per 46-minute episode. Sells new in Canada for $80. |
