5.0 out of 5 stars Thrash metal, North Carolina-style
After viewing their first music video Zeppo a year ago, there was no question that there'd be a lot of buzz about Sanctity. A year and several shows later touring with Trivium, Black Label Society, Megadeth, Lamb Of God, Arch Enemy, Into Eternity, Opeth and many others, their debut album is finally out. I hear some catchy riffs, perhaps some good riffs, but this band never fails to devolve into a sing-song chorus, which is not the only problem.

First off, I gotta say that this cd breathes old school thrash in the same vein as Anthrax, Megadeth, and Testament. Not that there is anything wrong with Trivium's last album The Crusade (I liked it), but this may be for some of those that felt disappointed. There's a lot to like about this record. Nothing real fancy. Just skull-crushing metal.

This album was a great surpise. I had never heard of Sanctity but when i heard they were opening a Black Label Society i was going to i looked up their myspace page and gave a listen. I was impressed and after seeing them in concert (they were awesome), i purchased their album. I have to say, this bamd was a nice surprise. Nice tight songs, good guitar and i am happy to hear a heavy band that doesnt use the crappy cookie monster vocal style so popular now. This is a great album and highly recomended if you enjoy Metallica, Testament and Megadeth. Pick this one up.

4.0 out of 5 stars A7X meets Rob Zombie.., September 28, 2009

This CD has the music of a heavier version of Avenged Sevenfold mixed with the voice and music of Rob Zombie, its like A7X and Rob Zombie had sex and had a baby, and Sanctity is it.

This band has some of the best chugging riffs I have ever heard, my personal favorite being "Beneath the Machine".

The music is awesome, the lyrics are great, this CD is worth every penny.

4.0 out of 5 stars WOW!!!!, August 22, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)

Surprise of the year.....Takes your head off from minute one.Obvious comparisons to Trivium......but there's nothing wrong with that.
The harmonies actually remind me(ALOT)of a criminally underrated 90's metal band called T-Ride.Every time I listed to this disc I hear a T-ride influence.(I'd be curious to know if any of the band have heard them before)I'm looking foward to seeing them in September with Machine Head and Arch Enemy.
Probably won't survive that one........

AAAAAARRRRRRRGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Trendy, but not, April 29, 2007
This review is from: Road to Bloodshed (Audio CD)
I saw Sanctity on Gigantour last year, remembered I liked them, but forgot why in the time while I waited for their first CD to actually come out.

It's basically a cross between a good Swedecore band (Unearth, Trivium, etc.), maybe a little bit of Avenged Sevenfold, and a lot of Testament. And maybe something else I haven't identified, yet. In any case, it's very cool.

I hear some catchy riffs, perhaps some good riffs, but this band never fails to devolve into a sing-song chorus, which is not the only problem.

When these dudes started up, they advertised themselves on Facebook and MySpace. Supportive friends gave them positive reviews. Then they played shows at small venues, and some label idiot recruited them to play that 'music what the kids like these days.' Tell me that ISN'T the story here. This band is out to make MONEY, folks, and if you think otherwise, you're delusional or have bad taste. Likely both.

Deftones started as just another nu metal band. I don't know what the hell kind of band they are today, but they evolved and I love them for it. BUT--nu metal was a trend, just like this kind of band is trendy. There is no reason to buy this album over the hundreds that sound just like it. What sets Sanctity apart?

You damn kids think just because it's 'metal' it's legitimate.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not Terribly Exciting....., October 14, 2007
This review is from: Road to Bloodshed (Audio CD)
Having been a metalhead since the British invasion (Iron Maiden, Sabbath, etc.) and a guitarist during the late '80s thrash scene, I was certainly overjoyed to see the recent surge in metal's popularity after being nearly buried or just plain gone during the '90s after grunge hit. Unfortunately, I am now seeing the opposite side of metal's new-found popularity...the flooding of the market with a million so-so "copycat" bands.

Is "Road To Bloodshed" a bad metal album? Not necessarily. Decent riffing with an occasional surprise, some occasionally interesting dynamics, and passable melodic vocals similiar to Testament. But that's the problem....adjectives like "passable", and "occasional". There just isn't anything you will hear on this platter that a bajillion other new bands these days haven't done and done better than these guys. I found myself yawning several times, especially towards the end of the album. Give it a miss, unless you are newer to the metal scene, in which case this might interest someone...

This review is from: Road to Bloodshed (Audio CD)
Not bad for a new ol' school slash metal band. For the likes of Shadowz Fall fanz i guess. I didnt really like the vocalz at first but it doez go with their sound i realized. Buy it if you like War Within by SF.
