This is "The Favorite" book in our house! We first started reading this to our son when he was 2. Now he is 5 and still loves it. Our second son is now 2 and it is his favorite! The illustrations are the best around and the story is easy for kids to understand. We have learned about the different kinds of construction vehicles and what they do. The boys are able to name the different kids of trucks when they see them on the road. I have bought this books for many of my friends who have recently had baby boys so they can enjoy it to!

I have twin 2.5 year-old boys and they love this book. Because of this book, when we are out driving around, they will tell me when they see a backhoe, a paver, or any other machinery they recognize. We read this book 3-4 times a day and it is new and exciting each time!

He doesn't get sick of it! He loves pointing out all the different types of trucks, finding the boss, and talking about the road builders going to build their next road.

If your little one is interested in construction machines, this book is a must. It is great. My boy memorized the words to this book when he was three and it helped him learn to read. The pictures are wonderful-- colorful and cartoonish yet very detailed as well.

I bought this book second hand for 1.50 and wow, 1 year later it is still his favorite book. Our copy is held together with packing tape and glue. Every time I get bored with it and hide it, he still manages to find it. My two year old will never part with his road builders book

This was an excellent book. It is well written for the age group specified(4 - 8 yrs), although younger children would also enjoy it. The illustrations are remarkably well drawn, even to the detail of the model of machinery. The story reads easily and my son (who is 2 yrs old) really loved it. I will buy my own copy rather than go to the library all the time!

My boys are now 15 and 14 and I still remember all the words to this book. We read it repeatedly every single night. It is one of the books I will never part with because I remember my sweet little boys every time I see it.

My 3 yr. old grandson is with us 4 days a week and has his own bookshelf with many books. He goes to Road Builders and Tough Trucks without fail. Though he is rough on the paper pages, they wear well. The colorful pictures are realistic making identifying actual road building equipment easy when in the car. When we read it, he not only names all of the road building equipment, but the names of the crew, and the motor vehicles that travel the roads once they are completed! I will give this as a gift to new grandparents of little boys.

This is my 2-year-old grandson's favorite book. We had it checked out of the library off & on for most of the last year before I broke down and bought it. Lots of drawings of construction equipment and a story of building a road to tie it all together.

This is an excellent book. Starts with an overview and pictures of all the trucks needed to build a road and then proceeds with step-by-step with a picture of each truck doing its work. My son (who is 2 and 1/2) and I really enjoy this book. Our other truck books tend to show the whole process of building a road on one page and that is too overwhelming. This book does it just right!
