Story and setting were well done!,

This was my first time reading a book by Linda Ford and it was a good surprise. Sometimes Love Inspired books seem to be quickly published without really good stories or editing. This one was great! I really felt as if I had stepped back in time and the main character made me feel for her. So far I am enjoying the new historical line and hope they will keep them coming. Although it would be nice if they would publish them in larger print as I really wanted to get this for my mom in larger print but it's not available.

I try to support the Love Inspired line when I can. I thought I'd try this book from the Depression Era series. Kinda wish I hadn't. I did like the descriptions of the surroundings and the family farm life during the Depression (as I wasn't alive during that time). However, I missed the rounding out of the hero. He was the strong, silent type taken almost a step too far. I had a hard time sympathizing with him because he was so closed off.
I hate to be predictable, but this book really was a bit depressing. |
