Great book for young readers!,
By
This review is from: On The Road (Down Girl and Sit) (Hardcover)
This is an adorable book from the first sentence in which the lead canine character declares "My name is Down Girl".
My young reader doesn't always like it when I tell her it's time to read, but she can't wait to get back to this book. She reads it out loud to me and we laugh together. Any book that can encourage a desire to read is a winner in my eyes! I will be looking for other stories from this author!

Hilarious for the Little Ones,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: On the Road (Down Girl and Sit) (Paperback)
My seven-year-old triplet grandsons are hard to read to. They really would rather be playing computer games. But they roared with laughter with this book and the others by Lucy Nolan. They especially loved the bit where the dogs drive the car. I can actually entice them away from the computer and into my lap for a few minutes when I offer them stories of Down Girl and Sit. Since listening, they have decided that our Irish setter puppy, Buddy, really thinks his name is "Nobuddy".

Another great "Down Girl & Sit" book,
This review is from: On The Road (Down Girl and Sit) (Hardcover)
This is the 2nd book Lucy Nolan has written from the viewpoint of a dog "Down Girl". It is just as funny & clever as the first. A very enjoyable read-aloud for all ages. You will laugh.

I bought this book to read to my son. I am not sure who enjoyed the book more myself or him. Especially great for anyone who is a dog lover or has a family dog.

Lucy Nolan, Down Girl and Sit, vol. 2: On the Road (Marshall Cavendish, 2005)For some reason I didn't have it marked down on the TBR sheet that On the Road was book two of a series, so I read it without reading #1. Which I find annoying, but On the Road is a good enough stand-alone that if you (or your kid) hasn't read the first, it won't be a big deal. Down Girl and Sit are dogs, who assume those are their names because that's what the human who own them say to them most (Sit is Down Girl's next-door neighbor). The two of them are off for a car ride into the country that turns into a camping trip. Funny, unexpected, and kinda sweet. Will definitely hold the interest of beginning readers, and has enough slyness to keep the parents going through the inevitable repeated reads at bedtime. Recommended. *** ½

What a GREAT book!!!! My daughter was in preschool when she brought this book home from her schools library for us to read. It was a hit!! Not only did she like it but her 3yr old sister did too. It had us laughing through the entire book and we cannot wait to read the other adventures Down Girl and Sit have. Our family gave this book 2 thumbs up!!!!!

On The Road with Down Girl and Sit,

This review is from: On The Road (Down Girl and Sit) (Hardcover)
Any dog lover can identify with this book. It is written from the dog's point of view. She thinks her name is Down Girl, and her best friend is Sit. They really don't like Here Kitty, Kitty, who lives behind them. I found it to be hilarious, and I've read it over and over, just for the laughs.
