5.0 out of 5 stars A Road to Elephant Pass, May 22, 2009
This review is from: The Road From Elephant Pass (Paperback)
This is a classic novel. Generally I do not like to read novel more than 200 pages but I couldn't resist this 430 page novel. Took only 6 days to complete. The natural language used in this book make the story lively and it continues till the end. Gives a brief idea about the war and social life of Sri Lankans in the war zone and the boarders. The two people from rival parties spent few days in solitudeness in the jungle made them so close and their ideas blend very well with time. The ending is unpredictable; it touches the heart as a warm needle touches your heart. It took some considerable time for me to recover back to my normal senses after reading the book. This really touches your heart. I really feel that Mr. Nihal De Silva was alive for me congratulate and thank him for writing this classic story. If you have watched the movie "Some birds can't fly", it is the same feeling I got after reading this story. It's worth the purchase

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing Book, December 9, 2008
This review is from: The Road From Elephant Pass (Paperback)
Amazing Book.

I could not put it down. So, I finished it in one go. The authors had the insight of a naturalist who knew the terrain well. It provides a very realistic psychoanalysis of a military man, and a rebel. Above all, it exposes the futility of many so-called liberation struggles, where two parties are trying liberate a group of people who in fact would prefer to be left alone rather than be liberated.
