life hits hard, and this story is life at its hardest.between the death of the two brothers, and the struggles afterwards, i felt like my heart had been ripped out. i felt like i was Ruth, like i went through everything she did, because this book is written so beautifully, so poignantly. it grabs you and pulls you into the scene. the descriptions are so perfect you forget you're reading a book and find yourself watching the movie playing in your mind. i'd recommend this book to anyone and everyone in a heart beat! oprah: eat your heart out. this should be your next book club nominee.

This book by Tommy Tenney is an incredible book! The characters were so realistic and easy to grow attached to. I was amazed at how fast-paced it read. The plot moves along with great-ease and it just gets better and better! This book really portrays loyalty and edifies the reader with a sense of duty in remaining strong in difficult times. Definitely the best fiction I have read in ages. This will surely become a film someday.

Superbly written!Spellbinding! Another #1 best seller for Tommy Tenney. This book exceeded all of my expectations. I have read every one of his books over the years & this really is a must read for everyone, even if you have not read any other of his books..It is an incredible journey across the country, one of forgiveness, redemption, and love.An incredible tale, who could imagine a cocktail waitress and Mennonite having such a deep friendship? He does a great job of making the book historically and geographically accurate..The book transcends cultural and religious divides.I had pre-ordered this book, when I received it I began reading it and could not put it down. This book really was a labor of love.Do yourself a favor and buy it, read it, then pass it on, as I have done, for others to receive the blessings from this incredible book!!

The Road home - Truly a trip worth taking!,
By Debora Trainor "djt" (McAllen, TX United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Road Home, The (Hardcover)
The Road Home is truly an adventure for more than just the mind. It is a captivating story that will capture the hearts of anyone who has felt rejection, pain and estrangement from the things and people they have once cherished. I found myself seeking for moments that I could steal away and read another page, another chapter. The characters are realistic, believable and their experiences also will touch the hearts of the millions of readers who have found themselves in the same situations. But most of all, I like that it provides the opportunity to lend hope to the reader. I will certainly share this information with anyone and everyone. Every woman I know and a lot of the men would enjoy this read!

The Road Home,
This review is from: Road Home, The (Hardcover)
The Road HomeFrom the moment I started reading this book I did not want to put it down! It is so well written that I got lost in it feeling the pain and heartbreak of Naomi and Ruth. I went back to things I had forgotten in my own past, all of the happy moments I had shared with my family while growing up,as well as some pain but I had overcome with the lord!. It also was great knowing that you really may stray from things that you were taught as a child but can and do desire to go back to! It also helped me go back to my love of reading again! I have been reading my bible but really didn't read much else. I regained that again! Thanks Tommy Tenny and Mark Andrew Olsen! This book is well worth the price and I would love to see it as a movie!!

On the Road Home,

This review is from: Road Home, The (Hardcover)
The Road Home is a wonderful modern adaptation of the Bible story of Naomi and Ruth. From the Old Testament book of Ruth, Tommy Tenney and Mark Andrew Olsen have given new life to this Sunday school story. I have had the pleasure of reading an advance reading copy given to me by Mr. Tommy Tenney. The novel is set in present-day Las Vegas, Nevada where Naomi and her two daughters-in-law, Ruth and Orpah, are all widowed. As part of their grieving, the three pile into Naomi's 1976 Impala make a stop at a place called Dead Horse Point near Moab, Utah. Here, Naomi recalls precious family memories as Ruth and Orpah spread the ashes of their beloved husbands. With not much of life to return to in Las Vegas, Naomi decides to leave the shimmering Sin City and pilgrimage back to her humble hometown of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Naomi, planning to make the trip cross-country alone, drops Ruth and Orpah off at a bus station in Moab. Ruth, refusing to let her mother-in-law make the trip alone, jumps off the bus and joins Naomi for what will be a life changing journey for both. The Road Home is full of adventure, emotions and hope. If anyone is looking for a book to read this Fall season, this is the one.

Made me want to visit Lancaster...,
This review is from: Road Home, The (Hardcover)
After I got through the first couple of descriptive chapters, I was able to get into the story. I cried for the losses and cheered for the triumphs! This book captured the heart of its characters and brought you along for the ride. I could almost smell the food at the potluck and it made me long for a life more simple... I'd recommend this to anyone who needs to hear that everyone has a second chance at life!!!

I could see myself reading it again and I could see myself watching it on the Big Screen,
This review is from: Road Home, The (Hardcover)
Life ain't always good...that's a given...but when it hits hard like it does for Ruth and Naomi it makes you wonder, "what is it that really keeps us pressing on?" I'd read this book again and I'd could definitely see me paying my $9.50 to go watch it on the big screen. Get the book, read the book, and give the book.
