5.0 out of 5 stars MOVING STORIES THAT ANYONE CAN FIND TIME TO READ, March 26, 2010

This review is from: On the Road Home: Stories of Life and Love (Paperback)
Terry proves to be a literary master in a variety of genres and the short story is no exception. He is cowboy from hat to heart to pen. His advice, "...reasons to write short works..." in the foreword makes this book priceless for any writer!

Terry's tales, the first in The Sagebrush Collection, in On The Road Home: Stories of Life and Love pull you into the days of the Wild West and on to heart-felt poetry and then to the true secret of a happy marriage (so concisely said and, like most secrets in life, more simple than most of us think) and back to the Range again - stories that as Bonnie Calhoun said, "...will take you from laughter to tears..." I found that to be literally true - I laughed out loud and had to use a tissue from one story to the next. Do you know what the best thing is about a collection of short stories? You can read just one in a small amount of time and frequently - this is easy heart-felt reading at its best!

4.0 out of 5 stars Stories of Life and Love, July 6, 2010
This review is from: On the Road Home: Stories of Life and Love (Paperback)
Story telling is an art that I enjoy and admire. I love hearing a well told story and it's almost as enjoyable to read if it's well written. On the Road Home is a collection of stories told by Terry Burns. He's a good story teller if the book is any indication of his art. Although the back cover of the book calls his voice "fluent cowboy-speak," the stories are not strictly about cowboys. The stories are mostly slice of life with a punch, interspersed with short poems. This is the kind of book you want to keep on your end table, to pick up when you have a minute to read a little something or just want a quick inspiration.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Cowboy Poet at His Best, March 27, 2011
This review is from: On the Road Home: Stories of Life and Love (Paperback)
Stories and poems from a genuine cowboy poet grace the pages of On the Road Home, by Terry Burns. Ranging from joyful to somber, these vignettes stay with you and, yes, can even change your thinking. At the least, they provoke thought.

With deep insights into subjects like what makes for a good marriage, longevity, happiness and spiritual health, this book resonates with truth. Terry's unique brand of common sense combined with compassion and good humor are just the prescription for a world of ills. Pick this book up and you'll put it down again the better for having read it.

I highly recommend On the Road Home by Terry Burns to adult and teen readers. This book is teen approved because of its practical wisdom.
