Book Description

The word murder isn't frequently heard in the small town of Mercy, North Carolina. Yet, behind the well-kept streets and smiling faces, Mercy bears a burden of pain from the past. Karen Denwood knows this all too well - she created the burden. After nine years in prison, Karen clings to the hope that the residents of Mercy will allow the "murderer" of Frank Aldridge to reenter the town limits unscathed. To Karen's dismay, the town residents shun her one by one. With only her aunt's acceptance, Karen loses hope for a fresh start in her hometown . . . until she finds forgiveness in the most unlikely person. Joseph Aldridge returns to Mercy planning to reopen his grandfather's old store as a veterinary clinic. After joining a prison Bible study, he never expects to come face-to-face with Karen Denwood, the woman responsible for his grandfather's death. Just when Joe thinks he can't let go of the past, God plants a seed of forgiveness in his heart for Karen. In the midst of Karen's struggle for acceptance in Mercy, Joe draws closer to her side. Will forgiveness blossom into something more or will their tragic history continue to tear them apart?

5.0 out of 5 stars 4.5 - Fantastic! March 1, 2014
By Joni
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This book was such a pleasant surprise! There were a few grammatical errors, but overall the writing was excellent, as well as the story. Most Christian romances are pretty cookie cutter, so the story line was a major plus for this one. I've read very few books that deal with female convicts, so it was very refreshing. I also liked how there was no "insta love" in this book. The main relationship grew at a good pace and was realistic.

Overall, this was a great book. I usually don't read unrated free kindle books, because there are so many bad ones, but I got lucky with this one! I'd definitely recommend "The Road to Mercy" to anyone who enjoys Christian fiction.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Christian novel I have read in a while March 21, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Lady, please continue to write, I checked and this is the only book I found authored by you. The Christian world has found a new gift in you. Wow, for a long time a book has not held my attention so, and without any foul language or behavior. My, I shed a few tears when I read the forgiveness of the Town in the Church, who else but the Holy Spirit could have done that. I feel really blessed to have read your book. What a difficult life Karen had, but the Lord had not forsaken her, true to his promise never to leave nor forsake us. Apart from the message on forgiveness, we are also reminded not to take our blessings for granted, especially our families in Christ.

5.0 out of 5 stars inspiring March 4, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
You may find this book a little slow starting but stick with it. You will not be sorry.
After a teen age mistake causes Karen to spend nine years in prison she finds that people that would minister to her in jail would not accept her in their town or even in their church. Pride and bitterness are rampant and forgiveness hard to find. See what God and love can do.

4.0 out of 5 stars Mercy - we all need it March 18, 2014
By Clein
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This book is about forgiveness and mercy (and Mercy - a town). It is entertaining, sweet, sad and definitely worth your time reading it. You will enjoy the characters, loving some and hating others. When you see forgiveness extended to those you want to hate, it pours over into your own life and those you don't want to forgive.

5.0 out of 5 stars Surprisingly well written March 16, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I say surprisingly because it didn't seem to have many reviews and it was a very cheap price which usually doesn't translate into a great book. I loved the story of a young girl falsely accused of a crime, yet not completely innocent. It was a love story, but didn't follow the nauseating formula of most "romance novels". A story of forgiveness even when it's hard.

I received it in the mail this afternoon and could not put it down once I started reading it! I loved it. The book is well written and the story line is so uplifting. Kudos to Melissa for writing such an awesome book about the amazing way God works in our lives and the power of forgiveness. This is probably the best book I have read in a while! I wish there were more books like this in the main stream book stores. The message within the book is one that I feel more people need to hear/read.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Road to Mercy March 7, 2014

What a fantastic job by Melissa McGovern Taylor. When a young girl makes bad choices, bad things happen. Forgiveness comes hard for the people of Mercy, NC. The story shows how hard it is to "go home" and pick up pieces of a shattered life. Forgiveness is a must in all our lives. This is a wonderful story about just that...forgiveness, how hard it can be, and how God will help of we just let him. I highly recommend this book, especially to young readers.
