5.0 out of 5 stars Another fun Erasure production
My wife was about 6 months pregnant with our daughter for this tour and thus, was my daughter's first Erasure concert. Now she's a healthy, happy little baby girl who gets to relive her very first Erasure show.

1.0 out of 5 stars It pains me to listen to this
I have to agree with girlpowernazi on this tour completely sucking and the Union Street CD sucking as well, minus a couple of moving tracks that don't remotely translate well live at all. I love all of erasure's music and disagree with their past couple albums being tripe, because I love their electronic music and even love some of their past acoustic renditions but with...

My wife was about 6 months pregnant with our daughter for this tour and thus, was my daughter's first Erasure concert. Now she's a healthy, happy little baby girl who gets to relive her very first Erasure show.

The audio quality is excellent and if you enjoyed this tour, then listening to this album will bring back very good memories. I personally thought that some of the arrangements were weird the first time I heard them at the show, but I thought they were fun nonetheless. As odd as it may be for some to hear Erasure acoustically, it's certainly not the first time that most Erasure fans have heard them acoustically, having done limited acoustic recordings in the past. Besides, I would be perfectly content listening to Andy sing in the shower or accompanied by a buzz saw and jack hammer.

As in the San Francisco show, Andy's voice is dead on for his performance in Nashville. He sounds great and the backup singers don't overwhelm Andy's voice. The show and this CD/DVD was worth it just to hear Andy sing Alien, How Many Times?, Spiralling, and Piano Song live. My daughter seems to prefer Victim of Love :)

The first disc is the audio CD and the second disc is the DVD that has the entire show plus a few bonus songs and a short film. This release is definitely a good value considering it includes the full CD and DVD for the price of just the CD.

~Eagerly awaiting Light At The End Of The World on May 22.

5.0 out of 5 stars Better Than What I Expected!, April 12, 2007
This review is from: On the Road to Nashville (Audio CD)
I just got this cd in the mail yesterday and I LOVED IT. I've been a fan of Erasure since 1987 but I have to admit that I got disconnected from their music when they did the CDs "Other People's Songs" and "Nightbird". At that time, I thought their songs started to sound the same. This new CD is such a refreshing change from all that electronic stuff the band is known for. Just imagine classic Erasure songs redone with different arrangements in the context of country music. I know it sounds crazy but the band pulled it off. Go to YouTube and check out some video clips from their acoustic shows. Too bad MTV Unplugged is not around anymore. Erasure could have done that show and blown everybody away.

5.0 out of 5 stars Erasure in a whole new light!, February 23, 2007
This review is from: On the Road to Nashville (Audio CD)
I wasn't sure at first if I'd enjoy Erasure live, minus all of their signature synths.... but this works! And it works really well! The songs are given a whole new life with the use of traditionally country music instrumentation. This package is worth its price if only for the amazing new interpretation of Blue Savannah. Breathtaking.

I didn't expect to find a "live" Erasure cd so great. The more I listem to it, the more I like it. This is a great addition to any Erasure collection. BUY THIS CD!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars bargain of the century, March 19, 2007
This review is from: On the Road to Nashville (Audio CD)
Tons of great songs and a DVD for a decent price. This tour was one of the most unusual and exciting I have seen. It was truly adventurous for a "synth" band to strip it down like this: but then we always knew that the strength was in the immortal songs. This is the way to do it. When the record company offers something this special, we will snap it up and tell the others. Great job!

I have to agree with girlpowernazi on this tour completely sucking and the Union Street CD sucking as well, minus a couple of moving tracks that don't remotely translate well live at all. I love all of erasure's music and disagree with their past couple albums being tripe, because I love their electronic music and even love some of their past acoustic renditions but with the fake country twang; it just sounds forced. I lived in the south for eight years and actually enjoy old school country, Tammy Wynette, Weyland Jennings, Conway Twitty, but this actually sounds like an offensive homage to that genre. It takes a true fan to be able to face the truth, and I have seen every tour since they toured with Duran Duran for the Circus Tour, and loved every tour, especially Swan, Tank, and Balloon live at the Beacon theatre....they sold out a good 13 shows in a row while I was going to Pratt back in the early 90's. Road to Nashville bites, it actually pains me to listen to it.

We saw this show when it came to San Francisco, fantastic show from a long time favorite band of ours. Great new versions of some classics.
We bought the studio version as well as the import concert from this same show but this CD is the best of the three versions I like both the prior versions but the studio album lacks the energy of a live show and the import live cd from an earlier concert has a weaker vocal performance from Andy. His voice is much stronger on this cd plus this cd has "Breathe" from the Nightbird cd which is not on either prior release.

It's great to hear Erasure in the non-electronic form. If you liked Union Street you should like this. Great energy in a live concert form.

When I went to their Union Street show, I was disappointed that they didn't offer a live recording from earlier in the tour for sale.
So when I saw this, I knew that I had to get it! For fans for Union Street, this is a necessary addition as they perform many songs that weren't on Union Street.
I haven't watched the DVD yet, I'm sure it'll be as great as their shows usually are!
