Crack investigator Claire Caswell and legendary Miami Dade state attorney, Gaston ''Guy'' Lombard, once again merge their acclaimed talents to tackle the most elusive of criminals. This time, when a gun-wielding man barges into the office of Caswell & Lombard, Private Investigation, the case takes the investigators from the steamy city of Miami Beach to Crete--the Greek island of romance and mystique. Arriving in Crete, the sleuths begin to track down the infamously dangerous target of their search. Unbeknownst to Claire and Guy, a group of merciless vigilantes also hunts for the same man . . . but for a very different purpose. Road to Omalos, with its rich throng of characters and colorful cultural history, interlaces a powerful tale of suspense, enchantment, and murder, as the search for a sociopathic criminal pegs the investigators and the vigilantes against each other in a perilous race to final justice.

Review

A first-rate detective story! Road to Omalos is an engrossing detective story, romance, and adventure that takes the reader inside the mind of a sociopathic criminal. I enjoyed it immensely! --Harry Markopolos, the ''Madoff Whistleblower,'' author of No One Would Listen: A True Financial Thriller

Marilyn Jax has done it again! The suspense, interplay, and conflict between the characters will keep the reader on edge right up to the brilliant, unexpected, and explosive ending. A Greek thriller! --Dr. Thomas Rumreich, Forensic Odontologist

''As they walked across the lobby, the two investigators failed to notice a man sitting in that area observing their every move.''

In this sequel to Jax's highly acclaimed novel The Find, veteran investigator Claire Caswell and her long time partner, former State Attorney Gaston Guy Lombard, once again find themselves at the epicenter of a perilous mystery. Having established a successful private investigation firm in the heart of sultry Miami Beach, the two sleuths are adept at solving the bevy of intricate cases that come across their desks.

When an armed lunatic threatens them at gunpoint, then implores them to travel to Greece to retrieve the vicious fugitive responsible for the deaths of his son and wife, the investigative team feels obligated to bring the fiend to justice. Traveling to the island of Crete, the duo quickly discovers that finding their notorious and much feared charge is more difficult than they suspected. What the pair doesn't expect is that they are not the only ones hunting their elusive target; a secret society of calculating men is seeking to exact their own brand of justice. The question is who will find George Zenonakis first.

Jax expertly weaves this gripping narrative from the opening paragraph. As both heroes and lovers, Claire and Guy have a charming rapport. As investigators they are knowledgeable, scrupulous and engaging, earning compassion and garnering support as they traverse the plot's complex topography. The author's extensive knowledge of Crete, the history, the land, the customs, and local cuisine lends authority to an already lush landscape. Jax's meticulously drawn details entice and enthrall, consistently employing the five senses to bring her literary vision vividly to life. Vibrantly depicted characters often struggle with conscience as they vacillate between virtue and obligation in an array of interlacing subplots that serve to enhance this spellbinding tale of justice, vengeance, and vigilantism. --US Review of Books

5.0 out of 5 stars A Must Read, August 6, 2010
This review is from: Road to Omalos (Hardcover)
Marilyn Jax has written another great mystery. This time she takes us on a journey to Crete with Claire and Guy as they pursue Crete's most feared man in the name of justice. The story is so interesting and exciting, once I started it I just couldn't put this book down. It is also great to learn more about Claire and Guy's relationship. I highly recommend Road to Omalos.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent mystery novel!, June 21, 2010
This review is from: Road to Omalos (Hardcover)
If you love mystery novels and are intrigued by crime stories, you just have to read Road to Omalos by Marilyn Jax. She has a wonderful gift for weaving a story together so well that you forget you're reading a book. You get to know her characters so well, once you reach the end you can replay the story in your mind, much like you would a made-for-tv movie.

This review is from: Road to Omalos (Hardcover)
Once again Marilyn Jax has written a spell binding mystery. Set in Crete, it pits Claire Caswell and her partner Guy Lombard against two sets of assasins in pursuit of the wayward scion of Crete's most powerful and feared family. The characters are vividly described, the setting is portrayed with artistry and the plot unfolds to suprise after surprise. One is literally on the edge of one's seat until the final scene unfolds. Family loyalty clashes with fundamental values as mystery is compounded by mystery. I could not put the book down and had to read it from beginning to end.
