Book Description

January 9, 2008

If you are bewildered by the capability of nineteen men who destroyed the World Trade Center buildings using a plan seemingly too simple to succeed, then you will be completely intrigued by the ability of one man to bring down the economy of the United States.

The signs of decline are everywhere! The export of jobs, factories and industries when combined with the proliferation of low paying service jobs has resulted in the decimation of the middle class and an erosion of our standard of living. Meanwhile, a deluge of cheap foreign goods and the exploitation of millions of illegal immigrants have effectively hidden the negative financial effects of globalization. At the same time, the mismanagement of our money supply and the devaluation of the dollar have diminished the savings of Americans while setting the stage for future hyper inflation.

Todd Robbins life is forever altered by the for profit execution of his father. He vows to devastate the economy using only the basic precepts of a system grounded in greed. The signs of social injustice are supportive of his elaborate scheme to destroy America.

In this age of financial turbulence, this novel is a frightening reminder of the need for constant vigilance. Together, we will decide if our future path takes us to a renewed prosperity or onto the arduous road to the third world!

5.0 out of 5 stars Criminally underknown exciting and prescient novel. A real mind opener., January 12, 2010
This review is from: The Road to the Third World: Conspiring to Destroy America (Paperback)
Although this is Steven Cafaro's first novel, it really doesn't feel like it.

Mr. Cafaro has given us a very well-formed and intense novel.

The situations presented within 'Road to the Third World' are very plausible, which makes this book a scary one. Cafaro has a deft touch as a writer, which he uses to affect the reader and induce thought.

I read this book two years ago when it was first published in 2008 and it hit me like a ton of bricks, inspiring me to ponder America's current place in the World Politik, and my own place in this crazy rat race.

I have just re-read the book in 2010, and it was an even more startling experience.

Life is imitating Art more and more everyday and this scares the hell out of me.

If you are looking for a strong, thought provoking work of 'fiction' relevant to America's current state, you would be hard pressed to find a better book.

More people need to be aware of Stephen Cafaro and his fine novel 'The Road to the Third World: Conspiring to Destroy America'.

I highly recommend this book to all thinkers, doubters, patriots, radicals, and future politicians.

Mr. Cafaro nailed it on his first try.

I am almost afraid to read his next reality check.
