Powerfully simple guidance!,
This review is from: Road Trip Guide to the Soul: A 9-Step Guide to Reaching Your Inner Self and Revolutionizing Your Life (Hardcover)
Not "just another" how-to book, added to the many that purport to change your life! (And haven't you heard that statement before? You can imagine the number of "how to change your life" books I've read in 67 years!) What made me want to encourage you to read Sadie's book is her unabashed use of the word "rule" as in her Road Rules, clues for the life journey where "direction" and "discipline" are joyful practices rewarded by life-changing outcomes. She writes (one is tempted to say "speaks"-- her book is engaging, interactive, and conversational) simply and articulately about profound truths. She inspires one to follow where one can, to adapt where one should, and to believe that full and abundant living is well within the range of the human condition. Since I'm on the trip anyway, I'm really glad to be sharing the road with Sadie.

The Real Thing,

This review is from: Road Trip Guide to the Soul: A 9-Step Guide to Reaching Your Inner Self and Revolutionizing Your Life (Hardcover)
Sadie has the gift for teaching. Together with hard-earned, lived wisdom, her gift comes through on these pages, as it does in the yoga studio. Her lessons are specific, practical, and rooted in the teachings of ancient wisdom traditions. Using examples from her own life blended with the road trip metaphor, Sadie offers compelling, memorable, and empowering guidance. A key teaching that runs throughout is how self-reliance combines with generosity and compassion. She shows you how being intelligently and courageously generous with yourself benefits both you and others. Anyone who has taken a class with Sadie can see the integrity and discipline in her work. She brings these same qualities to this book. Her writing is both conversational and authoritative. You would be hard pressed to find a more engaging guide to life's rich journey. And you don't need to be a yogi to benefit from reading it. You only need to be alive with a commitment to living at full throttle!

Make for yourself a teacher; make for yourself a friend!,

Opening Sadie Nardini's book has the potential to be life-changing. In many ways...it is like gaining a friend on the challenging journey of life. The book is so much fun - it's a pleasure to read Sadie's fluid prose with great humor woven into it.
"The Road Trip Guide to the Soul" encouraged me to get back in the driver's seat on my journey, and it was a joy to turn to Sadie's book to hear her voice and take time to reflect on her wisdom, as she is a gifted interpreter of eastern ways for the western mind. I didn't want to come to the end - it is so much fun to ride along side Sadie! But, of course, the book is never over because it is truly a resource guide, a place to turn to as a companion on the journey. As a student of Sadie's Core Strength Vinyasa yoga classes, I am especially appreciative that she has written this book, offering such a wonderful part of her philosophy out in the world. Hopefully, the Road Trip Guide will reach and touch new readers and searchers - expanding Sadie's audiences of students and others - spreading the word. Sadie's wisdom on centering self is clear and invaluable - especially in tough times. There is an old saying, "Make for yourself a teacher; make for yourself a friend." The Road Trip Guide to the Soul is written by a wonderful teacher who becomes your friend by the end of the book, empowering the reader to take a new, confident, and freshly inspired road on the journey of a meaningful, rewarding life.

Nice book- simply written and real,

What I like most about this book is that it is simply written and easy to understand- which leaves you with the feeling that all the suggestions are within your ability to complete. I also like the fact that the author gives you information from other philosophies (yoga, buddhism etc) without overdoing it- i think this keeps it accessible to more people and gives those interested a direction for further reading/research. All the advice rings true, it feels like something you already know in your heart to be true (and therefore its nice to have written down to remind yourself whenever you need). I finished this book feeling positive that I can take control of my life and be HAPPY with it.
I liked the book, and I am happy to recommend it.

The Ride of Your Life!,
This review is from: Road Trip Guide to the Soul: A 9-Step Guide to Reaching Your Inner Self and Revolutionizing Your Life (Hardcover)
I've been taking Sadie's classes for almost 5 years, and I have to say, this book is like having Sadie along for the ride of your life...a personal life-coach you can take with you anywhere. If you can't make it to NYC to take her yoga classes, this book, along with her dvd, will change your life, and encourage you to tap into your inner strength and shine it out.
Sadie writes clearly, in easy to understand, easily digestible chapters that illuminate ancient yogic truths in ways that we can all use and benefit from. She will be your guide on an inner trip that will empower you to make real, lasting changes in your life that will benefit not only yourself, but everyone around you. I can't recommend this book highly enough. It's real, it's powerful, and it will change your life.

I'm a little biased, an all-or-nothing type person. I don't know if this is the best book ever written in the Whole Wide World, but I'm giving it a 5 because it helped me in ways other advice columns and self-help books have yet to do.
Some people may complain that this self-help book gives information everyone already knows, or doesn't interpret the information everyone already knows in a creative way. But I think these books are called self-help in part, because most people with even a little common sense know what they should do, they are just missing some essential thing or things to go out there and help themselves! Therefore, as a self-help book, I think this is a success. Especially for young to middle aged adults right now, living in a time where so much of ourselves are generated outward, through the internet, exponentially easier access to material wants and needs, etc. The book states what you know you need to do for yourself. Then it gives insight, using various theoretical backgrounds (but put very simply), to the many reasons why these self-help steps are necessary. This provides understanding and motivation. For me, best of all, the book then provides very detailed directions and examples of how to go about putting the world's common sense advice into action. As an engineering student, I also enjoyed how she simplified the aspects of physics and other sciences to show that all the rules apply to us too, not just to some little point in space or an object on a slope or a circuit or piece of furniture. I watch her yoga videos too, so this made me perhaps a little biased as I have been exposed to a small glimpse of her personality, diction, way the thinks, etc. However, (I liked that) she did not discuss too much about her personal life until the end. I like when advice is not completely directed from another person's personal experiences. The "if I were you..." deal. Instead, it was kind of a kill bill approach, in which you don't know anything about the bride, all we know is she's a mass murderer, but we're still rooting for her because of the way she takes control of her life despite disabling situations.

A compass to navigate from your center to the universe's center,
By
This review is from: Road Trip Guide to the Soul: A 9-Step Guide to Reaching Your Inner Self and Revolutionizing Your Life (Hardcover)
How a road trip guide to the soul could be related to a universe compass to guide you, no matter where you are right now, through the challenges/changes in life and teach you, in a simple, clear, profound yet humorous way about old yogic truths that govern our lives in this planet?
Ms. Sardini, an inspring, fearless, fun and dedicated to life transformation teacher, whom I met, serving as a diplomat/press secretary, almost a year ago in my NYC stop, in the East-West yoga studio, taught me and reminded me some simple truths about how to live our lives, appreciating and confronting each moment of our life, with full consciousness. I have felt that through her I added an essential skill to my planetary baggage, a genuine, profound and fun way to the better understanding of the people across countries, and specially here in the US, of how they/I connect their/my body expression to my sould expression to achieve their/my self-realization. Maintaining a strong center in the midst of a thunderstorm and working towards the achievement of balance in any given situation is the best way to contribute towards peace and therefore to everyone's right to self-realization in a free, conscious and responsible way, which is ultimately everyone's right and obligation in this planet.By understanding this very simple need we can connect easier to our higher self/puropse in life and contribute, creatively, to the broader cause of peace, compassion, tolerance and living meaningfully from our center, as Ms. Sardini would add.
