Book Description

October 10, 2006

Jeff Struecker, a "Black Hawk Down" hero, the Army's Top Ranger, now an Army Chaplain, relates his own tales from the frontlines of every U.S. initiative since Panama, and tells how God taught him faith from the front in fear-soaked times. As readers go on-mission with Struecker through his harrowing tales, they will learn how to face their own fears with faith in a mighty God. Just as he told one of his charges in Mogadishu: "The difference between being a coward and a hero is not whether you're scared, it's what you do while you're scared."

5.0 out of 5 stars No matter if your in the Military or not, READ THIS BOOK!!, October 11, 2006
If there were 10 stars this book would get all ten! Don't think that just because you're not in the military that you can't connect with this book. If you really care about the struggles your American Warriors are facing everyday, in far off places around the world away from family and friends, then you will read this book and won't be disappointed. Chaplain Struecker has been there, done it, and let's you know how he dealt with it every step of the way by putting his faith in Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. I know without a doubt that our Soldiers, Airmen, Sailors and Marines and their families will also be able to relate to this book, as they struggle with their daily lives serving a Nation at war and seek to strengthen their walk with the Lord.

4.0 out of 5 stars Road to unafraid, January 18, 2007
By
I had the opportunity to listen to Chaplain (CPT) Struecker speak to a group of men at a fellowship gathering at one of our local churches. He is a very inspirational speaker and is sincere about his love for Jesus. Having recently retired from the military I had a good understanding of what he had gone through while reading the book. I too was in a combat military occupational specialty (MOS) so I know what type of challenges he faced both mentally and spiritually. He had risen to the highest level of the most elite fighting force our Army has. The way he has stayed true to his faith throughout his many struggles and became stronger is an inspiration to those of us who have worn or wear the uniform.
I actually liked the book so much that I gave copies of it to a few of my former ROTC Cadets on their commissioning as 2nd Lieutenants in the Army recently. I highly recommend this book to anyone who questions their faith or is in the military and a Christian.

I read this book in 2 days. I literally couldn't put it down. I suggest that anyone who was a fan of Black Hawk Down, the movie or the book, pick up this latest release to get an absolute first hand perspective of the Ranger who led the convey into Mogadishu several times to rescue pinned down Rangers in battle. I can only hope that at some point, my life will have the signifigance that Captain Struecker has attained. What a class act.
