This is a great childrens book. The book has a gentle humor that kids love, with several running storylines throughout besides the main story of the boy and his mother reaching grandmother's house. There is a lot going on on each page that kids like to point out and discuss and each time we read it I catch something new. My son is three and he loves it, and I recently read it to a class of kindergartners and they loved it too.

Another aspect of the illustrations that I liked was the gender parity of construction workers and drivers as well as the ample use of pink throughout, for trees, sidewalks, etc. It's not a "rough and tough" construction book, but a more practical book about the ways construction teams and equipment make our community and our lives better. I definitely recommend it. I ended up giving our family copy to the kindergarten class and immediately ordered another one :)

This book has a good story and nice artwork, but I really love this book because there are women working construction jobs! I always point that out to my two boys :) I also love that there is some pink on every page. I'm not much of a pink fan myself, but I like that this book isn't a typical construction book. The rhyme is cute and there are fun details in all the pictures. We've owned this book for a couple of months and have read it many times. Now I'm buying a few copies for Christmas gifts for others in the 2-6 age group!

This book is my two year old son's favorite book. He especially likes finding the chicken hiding throughout the book.

I borrowed this book from our local library and my two year old loved it so much that I'm going to get our own copy! The artwork is great and the story is simple. It's perfect for a little boy who likes anything with wheels.

A family is on its way to Grandma's house in a car. On the way, the family comes through a construction zone. The family slows down and sees all the many ways people are working in the world.

Vibrant pictures and active text move the reader from page to page, almost as if one is in the car with the family, looking out on the busy world.

Here's a little:
"People working above
trim bushes and trees.
They put up lights
so you can see."
