More About the Author
Arline Chandler, born in 1939, writes from her home in Heber Springs, Arkansas, or from her motorhome that takes her wherever the notion strikes. A former kindergarten and private piano teacher, Chandler writes destination pieces and profiles for various magazines, especially in the RVing field. Her books include Road Work: The Ultmate RVing Adventure,Road Work II: The RVers Ultimate Income Resource Guide, When Heads & Hearts Collide: My Personal Journey in Parenting My Parents, and Truly Zula: Daughter of the Ozarks. Her essay about her teacher aunt, Zula Turney, is included in My Teacher Is My Hero. She is currently working on a history of Ozark entertainment in Branson, Missouri.
Arline shares her traveling and writing adventures with photographer husband, Lee Smith, and their international traveling dog, Spot. On occasion, she and her husband take Workamping jobs, selecting short-term roles that provide new experiences and places to explore. As volunteers at Cape Lookout State Park in Oregon, they sold firewood. In Bar Harbor, Maine, Arline rented bicycles and booked kayak tours while Lee shuttled customer to launch points on the Atlantic Ocean. For two summers, they worked as support staff at Opera in the Ozarks, a training camp for aspiring opera artists, located near Eureka Springs, Arkansas. For ten summers, and a few autumns, Arline taught classes at Life On Wheels, a conference for RVers on the campus of the University of Idaho in Moscow, and college campuses in Kentucky and Pennsylvania. She has also spoken about writing family history and finding jobs as one travels at the Affinity Group's "The Rally" in various locations, including Georgia, California, Kentucky, Kansas, and Wyoming.
