4.0 out of 5 stars Works well, although last one did break eventually
I had one of these that got daily use for about a year before the socket portion cracked and I had to replace it. Even so, I'd definitely say that I got my money's worth and it worked fine up until that point. I bought it again as a replacement. The cord is pretty long, so you if don't really need 12 feet, you might want to use to twist ties to keep a portion of it...

3.0 out of 5 stars Use only for low current applications.
Use only for low current applications.

My cable was marked 0.75MM (squared). A web search showed this to be somewhere in between 20 and 22 AWG.

The wire size should be given in the Amazon listing. This cable would probably be fine to charge an iPhone or iPod, but I would not use it with any tools, larger lights, air compressors, etc. (I could...

(I could find no fuse.)

The AMP rating is not on the wire, nor on the packaging, so do your own careful research before using.

Other than the low current carrying capacity the quality of construction looks good (made in Taiwan not China).

1.0 out of 5 stars Too weak for a power tool charger, September 29, 2010

I bought this so I could charge my cordless tool batteries in the cargo area of my van, and keep the clutter out of the cab. It did not work out so good, the wire is too thin to use on a battery charger that only draws 5 amps DC. The batteries would not correctly charge due to a low voltage condition the thin wiring caused. So I am not sure what kind of accessory this thing is good for?

1.0 out of 5 stars Very poorly made = junk, August 3, 2011

I found the product to be poorly made - a piece of junk.
- Cable not secured to plastic barrels
- Poorly soldered (cold solder joint)
- Poorly designed/cheap parts

This product was useless to me, I finally went to an autoparts store, picked up better quality male and female ends, a hardware store for the cable and made my own.

1.0 out of 5 stars Dead on Arrival, June 20, 2011

We often need a 12v extension cord on our boat so I ordered one of these three months ago so we'd have it on hand when Summer arrived and we started using our 12v fans (fyi, the Endless Breeze fan is the best 12v fan on the market. We bought two and were so impressed that we just ordered a third). Anyway, back to this extension cord: this weekend I pulled it out of the package to use it for the first time and the cord literally fell out of the plug. My husband unscrewed the plug to take a look and the wires had never even been attached to the contacts. Bottom line, these cords are very cheaply and shoddily made. I certainly recommend you choose another model.

1.0 out of 5 stars Product broke after one week, July 21, 2011

This product is too flimsy. I used it in my vehicle for a road trip and one week later it broke. The male plug already broke and after I removed it from it's socket after one week. Not heavy duty.

3.0 out of 5 stars get out your soldering iron, July 10, 2011

This review is from: RoadPro RP-203EC 12V 12' Extension Cord with Cigarette Lighter Plug (Automotive)
The VERY first time I used it the solder broke when I pulled it out of the cigarette lighter. I gave it 3 stars just because of that. They did not have anything to hold the wire in place with the male plug except for the 2 very small amounts of solder used to connect the wire to the male plug. I got out my soldering iron and re-soldered it back in place, put it all back together and wrapped the whole thing in electrical tape. So far this seems to be working. If it snaps again I'll buy a better male plug. My advice would be to wrap the plug with electrical tape and down a couple of inches on the wire to hold the thing together before you use it the first time. Come on RoadPro, there are better plugs out there than that POS. Other than that it worked perfectly with my Coleman air pump I use for my inflatible raft and bed.

When I plug this extension cord into my truck's power port, it gives me enough length for my 12v air pump to inflate the tires on my 5th wheel trailer while it's hitched to the truck. That's exactly why I bought it and the price is fantastic! Perfect!

I use this as an extension cord for my 12v dc tire inflator. It seems heavy duty and I've used it a few times with no problems. It's exactly what i was looking for.

So before finding this, I had to back the SUV up to the tent as close as possible to plug in the blower for the air mattress while camping. This makes it MUCH easier to fill the air mattress, which was the only reason for purchasing this for me. Works like a charm; didn't blow a fuse, didn't get hot, just worked. As always, Amazon has the best price, and super saver shipping ROCKS.
