5.0 out of 5 stars genius, July 31, 2003

I can't believe there aren't any reviews for this album. If you have wandered here by accident, welcome to mice parade. if you are a fan of tortoise or other post-rock/jazz/experimental stuff, you will already know of this guy. It is definately genre defying. anyway, this record is a collection of live recordings broadcast for a BBC session in england, unreleased tracks etc.
Doug sharin(Him)is now a full time member of the band and I'm sure his input will push an awsome original band even further.
And don't think this is just a live record. the bbc recordings are awsome.

4.0 out of 5 stars The evolution of flow, May 14, 2006
This review is from: All Roads Lead to Salzburg (Audio CD)
The mastermind behind Mice Parade is so talented, I almost feel bad for him. Despite being one of the most talented song writing drummers and despite his multi- instrumental, eclectic brilliance, his love of the beat, and particularly for dub structure clearly outshadows anything he has to offer compositionally. Perhaps that is a good thing, for few recording artists have ever attained levels of such melodic, percussion-based fluidity. For some reason though, I can't help but think what this guy would do with the proper musical companions. The diverse, often foreign instruments are utilized brilliantly (with the title track being some of Mr. Pierce's strongest writing), yet still the pacing of the drums are almost always the sun for which all other instruments revolve, somehow limiting the scope of this true musical prodigy. A pretentious complaint for one of the most amazingly organic, rhythmic journies you could fathom. Downside being? While most of the tracks are incredible, there is a little share of filler, and to market like a normal full length there is a distinct feeling of this album being a few ep's worth of stuff put together, ultimately playing like a b-sides record, that is to say the greatest one Ive ever heard.
