5.0 out of 5 stars Gotta Love that "Pink" Motel with the Fairy
There is so much going on in this book; it is busy and fun, and informative, and a hoot! It is real trip down Memory Lane. Cover is lively and enticing, print quality is nice, as is page size. It is clear the authors enjoy their work. Colors are crispy cool! I plan to buy several for Christmas gifts. If you took road trips when you were young, you're going to really enjoy...

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't be fooled by the slick pages
Such a dissappointment! I cannot believe how irresponsible of this publishing house to print a GUIDEBOOK with no indexing of the locations. The attractions are not even organized regionally. I can't find locations in the states I'll be traveling in, let alone the cities or towns. If I knew the names of the attractions, I wouldn't need this %^&* useless book. I cannot...

5.0 out of 5 stars Gotta Love that "Pink" Motel with the Fairy, August 17, 2007

It is clear the authors enjoy their work. Colors are crispy cool! I plan to buy several for Christmas gifts. If you took road trips when you were young, you're going to really enjoy being reminded of the quirky places along the way. If you never experienced road trips in the middle of last century, then read it anyway and find out what you missed, and what your parents and grandparents are talking about when they say they "took a trip". I'm the cute little girl in the convertible on page 69.

5.0 out of 5 stars Roadside Thrills!, September 8, 2007
This review is from: Roadside Attractions: Cool Cafes, Souvenir Stands, Route 66 Relics, & Other Road Trip Fun (Hardcover)
This book is a dense and stunning compilation of all things "roadside" (interesting buildings, restaurants, fiberglass giants, old amusement parks, eccentric constructions, etc.). The research is thorough and up-to-date, the photos fantastic, and the subject matter comprehensive. It's a must-have for anyone looking to add interesting sights to their travels and for folks interested in Americana.

Excellent book to get some insight as to what is, and was, interesting to see and do on the Lincoln Highway.

5.0 out of 5 stars great information, May 24, 2010

This review is from: Roadside Attractions: Cool Cafes, Souvenir Stands, Route 66 Relics, & Other Road Trip Fun (Hardcover)
I have not yet read cover to cover but selected parts, (Route 66) and several others, and just wish I had the time to go visit all of them. It evens mentions several that are no longer with us and what a shame if we miss any more before all these time treasures are all gone.

I cannot believe I spent any of my meager retirement on this worthless book. I will never buy from this publishing house again. Indexing is so automatic with all the publishing programs that this is inexcusable from any professional publisher. This is assuming the authors were so thick as to not understand the importance of a functional index in a GUIDEBOOK. Beware these writers as well since they don't want their GUIDEBOOK to GUIDE anyone on a trip. Buy any of a number of better organized REAL guides instead.
