Editorial Reviews

Review
"...should be with every bike rider's arsenel...simplest and best guide to everything from fixing a flat to seats & brakes." -- Food Industry News, August 2008

"Chapters explain, with humor and candor...clear instructions guiding even beginners through their first flat tire or brake pad replacement." -- Foreword Magazine, May/June 2008

Product Description
Sam Tracy, a radical-minded bike aficionado with a 90-pound toolbox, distills his breadth of knowledge into this handy, pocket-sized repair credo, organized by the major bike components-wheels, seats, stem/handlebars, brakes, and drivetrains. With the mindset of a stranded rider, Tracy efficiently chases down the sources of mechanical woes and describes how best to tackle these repairs in a time-conscious fashion to get riders speedily back up on their bikes. Those planning longer journeys are encouraged to peruse this guide prior to departure both to understand the range of potential repair scenarios and ensure that all the right tools make it into the repair kit. With Roadside Bicycle Repair, Tracy talks repair first, bike politics second-though there's always room for a little social agenda. This is the book for bicyclists on the move.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Value, June 18, 2008
By Sesshomaru (Va. USA) - See all my reviews
Great take along book.
More pictures than Mr. Tracy's previous publications.
Instructions are thorough and give the proper precautions about common mistakes made while performing repairs.
Great deal at twice the price!

5.0 out of 5 stars Compact and Handy-Great for Bicycle Touring, May 15, 2008
By Mike (Boulder, Colorado) - See all my reviews
I'm a big fan of Sam Tracy's approach to bike repair. He is always straightforward about which components are worth your time and how to save money on bicycle repair. This book is a convenient manual to bring along with you on the road because it will fit in your back pocket and there are large side flaps that will hold the book open on the ground while you make your repairs. The pictures are clear and easy to follow (an improvement from Tracy's last book) and the book covers everything you need to know about the most common roadside bike blunders.

4.0 out of 5 stars Flowery prose, but good information, July 17, 2008
By FrieHerr (Seattle, WA United States) - See all my reviews
This book is full of good information, but reads like victorian poetry.

Once you get used to the verbiage, it's quite useful.

1.0 out of 5 stars Practically useless
Expected a simple, straight-forward roadside repair guide. Instead got a bunch of esoteric rambling BS. You have to really dig to get any actual repair info. Read more
