Product Description

Product Description

Nothing compares to enjoying the open road in a luxury convertible. Crisp mountain air streaming through one's hair, window-free views of gorgeous natural vistas zipping by, fellow roadsters just inches away from your slick paint job as the metallic mass negotiates a hairpin curve at breakneck speeds. Yep, nothing like it at all.

Far from the traditional racing game, Roadsters combines fast racing action with the ability to bet on races and trade cars. Wrangling cash out of fellow racers allows one to upgrade to progressively beefier vehicles and enter more demanding competitions.

The game features four modes of play: trophy, multiplayer (up to four players), quick race, and time trial. Roadsters introduces 10 unique tracks, ranging from oceanside highways to mountain passes, each with unpredictable local weather conditions. With more than 30 convertibles to choose from and a variety of engine configurations and modifiable parts, Roadsters is the ultimate way to drive topless. --Eric Twelker

Product Description

Let the top down, put on your shades, and fasten your seat belt. In ROADSTERS you can race your dream car through the many beautiful environments from oceanside roads to narrow mountain passes, through snow, rain, and warm sunshine. A fan and critical favorite, ROADSTERS showcases luscious graphics, ultra-smooth handling, roughly three dozen convertibles to choose from, varied engine setups, and fully modifiable parts. The 10 tracks and the stunning depth of the gameplay and strategy keep the races fresh, and the replay value high. Another of the game's outstanding features is the emphasis on betting. That's right, you have to bet your opponents in order to get cash to upgrade your parts and better parts make all the difference. ROADSTERS features four modes of play: Trophy, Quick Race, Time Trial, and Multiplayer (which supports up to four players). If you've always wanted to gamble on your ability to handle a Z3, a 911, or a Lotus Elise, you'll be in retractable-roof heaven.

Over 30 exotic cars including licensed cars, 10 different tracks, 4 playing modes, Weather and light conditioning, Variety of upgrades and power-ups.

5.0 out of 5 stars Roadsters: Absolutely Increadible! *PLEASE NO DROOLING*, December 30, 2000

This review is from: Roadsters- Nintendo 64 (N64) Game- NEW (Video Game)
(this is long but please read it; only five para.)

At first when playing this game I was not sure it was very good AT ALL!! Though after getting the controls down, using a manual transmission, my BMW Z3 convertabile became highly responsive, an agile road eating beast that would not be beteen by even a Porsche 911 Turbo or Mercedes es500, though was occasionally topped by the European made Lotus Elise. Understandably these muscle cars were listed under other names and makes, though were no doubt the real things with true-to-life stats(as proved to me by my July 2000 edition of 'Car and Driver') making each cars' handling and road characteristics unique.

Sounds good, well the game has hardly begun untill you enter into one of three trophy series, driving A-class cars($20k-$24k), B-class($35k-$80k), or C-class rides($80k-$200k), each with a considerable entrance fee; $20K, $40k, or $100 thousand dollars for the C-class, so class repeats may be required, paying you considerable amounts of Cash Money excess $$BlingBling$$. Ferraris are in the C-class, need I say more; though the cars go faster, the courses DO NOT get bigger; making for one very intense driving experience.

One of the coolest features in this game is your ability to soup up your car once you gain more money in one of the circuit modes. 'Roadsters' enables you to tweek the suspension (soft for snow, or hard for quick dry surfaces), change you gear ratios (to gain a higher top end or better acceleration), add a racing exaust to boost power, turbo chargers (to make all your gears go faster), purchase super tires(four different kinds; ice, sno, rain, or dry) and much much more. The possibilities for this game are practically endless. Did I mention there are over thirty different roadsters to choose from (the TT Roadster looks hot; so does the Alfa Romero Spyder--in Montego blue).

This game is also true to the laws of physics. Cars have real weight that shifts when taking your thumb off of the trottle. Tires grip better in turns when the car's weight shifts to the front end. I was really impressed When I learned this in the game instruction manual; a driving tips section is located at the rear of the booklet. This section goes into deeper depths on how physics play a crucial role on the game play.

Remember: Toyota MR2 Spyder, Mitsubishi Eclipse, Ford concept dragster, Plymoth Prowler, Porsche, Bmw, Alfa Romero, Lambergini, classic cars, Audi, ect. ect. ect. Where else will you find these cars?? NOWHERE ELSE!! Go out and buy this game, or rent it first, you will not be disappointed! --Rob Curtis

5.0 out of 5 stars Roadsters- Best Racing Game, July 12, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Roadsters- Nintendo 64 (N64) Game- NEW (Video Game)
I have been hoping for a racing game like this to come out. After playing such games as Cruisin' USA, Cruisin' World, San Francisco Rush, and California Speed, I believe that Roadsters is the champion of racing games. It's the closest you can get to driving a roadster without spending $85,000+ on a Porsche Carrera. The thing that really impressed me with Roadsters was the assortment of cars. There are 30 speed machines that you can choose from. However, they are put into three categories. Which means that in order to use the more expensive cars, you have to win with the cheaper ones. Not all of the cars are listed under their real names. But, if you look carefully you can easily recognize them. For example, the Equinox EX320 is the BMW Z3. Also the Skarla SK Roadster is the Audi TT. Other easily recognizable models include Mercedes Benz, Lamborghini, and Porsche. The 4 modes of play are: Roadsters Trophy, Quick Race, Multiplayer, and Time Trial. In trophy mode you must first select a driver. Then, you are given $45,000 to purchase a new car and pay the entry fee for the competition. At first, you can only purchase Category C Cars. In order to advance to Category B, you must get first place overall in the season of 6 races. Each course ranges in difficulty. Because Roadsters is a very realistic racing game, it is also a very hard game to master. If you take the sharp turns at a high speed you will end up hitting the wall or skidding off the track. This will slow you down greatly and could hurt your chances of winning. It took me awhile to recognize when to let up before a turn, but after a couple of laps I really got the hang of it. As you can see, I really like this game(If I didn't like it I probably wouldn't have written so much). If you ever get a chance to play it you won't be disappointed.
