Book Description

Before Perry and Aria, there was Roar and Liv.

After a childhood spent wandering the borderlands, Roar finally feels like he has a home with the Tides. His best friend Perry is like a brother to him, and Perry's sister, Liv, is the love of his life. But Perry and Liv's unpredictable older brother, Vale, is the Blood Lord of the Tides, and he has never looked kindly on Roar and Liv's union. Normally, Roar couldn't care less about Vale's opinion. But with food running low and conditions worsening every day, Vale's leadership is more vital—and more brutal—than ever. Desperate to protect his tribe, Vale makes a decision that will shatter the life Roar knew and change the fate of the Tides forever.

Set in the harsh but often beautiful world of Veronica Rossi's "unforgettable" Under the Never Sky (Examiner.com), this captivating prequel novella stands on its own for new readers and offers series fans a fascinating look into the character of Roar. Poignant and powerful, Roar and Liv is a love story that will "capture your imagination and your heart." (Justine on Under the Never Sky)

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect addition to the series October 30, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
I fell in love with Roar from his very first scene in Under the Never Sky, so when I found out Veronica Rossi was writing an entire novella dedicated to Roar, you can imagine my excitement. He's so funny and sweet and caring and sexy, and he was a bit of a scene stealer whenever he made an appearance in Under the Never Sky.

Roar and Liv takes place right before Under the Never Sky. We never get to meet Liv in UTNS, but we hear a lot about her from both Perry and Roar. It was nice to officially `meet' the girl that Roar is so crazy in love with, and to see them interact. Their sweet little moments together and their conversations made me laugh, swoon, sigh, and a couple of them were downright sexy and nearly took my breath away.

I also loved seeing more of Perry and Roar together. I adore those two! Their relationship runs so much deeper than friendship - they're like brothers (or as Perry said to Roar, "You're better than a brother" - which just about made me cry).

For a short story, Rossi sure packed an emotional punch. I felt like I spent a lot of the story grinning like an idiot and giggling like a school girl at the things Roar said and thought, but beyond that, there were really touching moments between Roar and Liv and Roar and Perry, and just like in Under the Never Sky, Vale, Perry and Liv's older brother made my blood boil.

An excellent addition to the Under the Never Sky series, Roar and Liv is a little taste of the amazing world and characters Rossi built, and it makes me even more eager for Through the Ever Night (January 2013).

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice addition to the series January 24, 2014
By Misha
Format:Kindle Edition
I love Roar, so I was very happy to see this novella. Surprisingly, what I actually loved the most about this story was learning more about Perry. Given everything he has gone through, he is truly an incredible and very humble person. I was blown away with his strength, loyalty, and bravery. I enjoyed reading more about his friendship with Roar and now I really understand their bond.

I didn't want to love Roar and Liv together because I have a feeling Rossi is going to break my heart later on, but of course I did. I liked how their relationship was rooted in friendship, and it was heartwarming to see how much Roar was willing to fight for her. I can't imagine being in Liv's position and trying to cope with the pain of being separated from my family and the man with whom I want to spend the rest of my life.

4.0 out of 5 stars Interesting Pre-Novella December 25, 2013
By Danar
Format:Kindle Edition
As I have not read any of the full length books in this series I found this short novella interesting. It makes me want to read on to find out what happens to Liv, Roar and Perry. This is a prequel which leads the reader up to the beginning of the first book in the series I assume because it stops in a cliff hanger.

This is one of my favorite series, so I loved the chance to read more about Roar and Liv. Not sure how I feel about Liv...she's a hard character to really *get*, but I adore Roar.

5.0 out of 5 stars UTNS fans must read!! June 25, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
As much as I love Aria & Perry's unfolding story, this short little tale of Roar & Liv warmed and broke my heart. Fams of UTNS MUST read this. It's the back story on Roar and Liv, and will explain a lot of things that happened in UTNS. It will also prepare you for TTEN. Would love to have more like this one from Rossi!
