5.0 out of 5 stars Clever! Charming! FUN!!!, January 21, 2008

One of several library books we just had to buy and own. Marsha Diane Arnold's clever rhyming verse is fun to read aloud and gets funnier as more family members awake and join Jack's search. Pratt's illustrations are witty and childlike and have the warm and cozy feel of incandescent lamplight. It even has a plot surprise (or two!) "Roar of a Snore" joins our short list of children's books that get better with each reading. Hint: we read this to our little girls (ages 2 and 3) and they laugh aloud when the family's rhyming names are read to them very quickly!

SUCH a cute story! The rhyme is wonderful...Dr. Seuss-ish, yet it has it's own flair. My boys (4, 3, & 21 months) all sit and listen through the entire story. (A miracle unto itself...) They also repeat many of the phrases in the book and all ROAR right along with their Dad as he reads it aloud! My 4 yr old has started "reading" it to his brothers. We originally checked it out at the library, and have just purchased it so we can have our own copy. That is the only way my children would not throw a fit at having to return the book! :-)

I borrowed this book from the library and my 3 year old daughter and her friend really enjoyed it. SUCH a cute book, the illustrations are good as well. KUDOS to the author I like the book so much I bought it so we could have our own personal copy. Great for any child between 2 1/2 to 6 I think. My 6 year old neiced enjoyed it too, especially when you do the voices with it. :)

I didn't have a child at hand while reading ROAR OF A SNORE but imagined how much fun it would be to read this short and sweet book out loud. The illustrations match the vivid story perfectly. Before long you imagine yourself as one of the characters, helping out!

5.0 out of 5 stars Gives toddlers the giggles!, June 6, 2011
This review is from: Roar of a Snore (Mass Market Paperback)
This is my 20-month old's favorite book right now - she giggles hysterically every time I snore, which is frequently throughout the book! Now she's trying to snore along. A cute and fun read with a great rhythm!

The goal is to find the source of the mysterious snore. Who is keeping everyone up? One by one the family is searched until they all band together on the quest to find the noise-maker. Who disrupts the sleep of the entire Huffle family, I won't tell. Go on the quest with them and when you are done, sleep soundly. Please.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely adorable! Child AND parent favorite in our house!, May 2, 2010
This review is from: Roar of a Snore (Mass Market Paperback)
My 5 and 3 year old are just captivated by this book. The rhythm and repetition encourage kids to read along with Mom or Dad. They love to hear it over and over--fortunately, this is one of those books that I love just as much. This is one that we'll keep in our library for my kids' kids years down the road.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great read-aloud book! Very fun and silly!, November 30, 2009
This review is from: Roar of a Snore (Mass Market Paperback)
I am a 3rd grade teacher, and we had the opportunity to Skype Ms. Arnold this morning! It was absolutely fabulous! She read the book aloud to my class, and had them become involved with the story by repeating the words from this book. We loved this book because it was funny! My 3rd graders came up with words like "awesome, amazing, cool, entertaining, good, best book in the world, spectacular, terrific, fabulous when I asked them to help me write this review. We would highly recommend this book to other elementary school classrooms. Also, Ms. Arnold gave us the ideas to take a character this book, and write our own "Roar of a snore" book.

5.0 out of 5 stars So much fun to read aloud, July 25, 2009

I fell in love with this book at first reading to my then 9 month old grandson. The rhythm of the words, the pictures, the kindness and gentle names all make it fun to read out loud. Although it is a little long for the tiny ones, making the snore ROARRRR and doing the variety of snores keeps their attention. I will enjoy reading it out loud for years to come.
Dec. 2010 It is still one of our favorite books to read together...and he loves it so much at two that his parents have to hide it since they get tired of reading it.
