5.0 out of 5 stars great
I read her previous book, ministers with white collars and black sercets and it was a hit, The new book Robbed without a gun is a must read. I read this book in only one day. I just couldn't put this book down. I really can't wait for the next book, I'm so addicted to Deborah Smith's work. This new author is one day going to be on oprah. This book is a...

5.0 out of 5 stars Keeping it Real!, February 27, 2005
This review is from: Robbed Without a Gun (Paperback)
This book was on the money, although I must admit the ending will leave you hanging but curious at the same time. I can't wait for the third part of this series.

This book was a page turner, it's been a long time since I actually had a book that has kept my attention from beginning to end. This book did just that. Keeping it Real, this is one of the best pieces of literature, I have read in a LONG time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Double For My Trouble, January 7, 2005

Oh my God, I don't know how this author knew what I have been going through. But I thank God for her ministry. This book made me laugh and cry. I didn't think it could get better, Because her first book "Ministers With White Collars and Black Secrets" just blew me away. I don't normally read, but my aunt bought me all 3 of Ms. Smith's books and I thank her everyday. These stories have encouraged me. Keep on writing, Deborah Smith you will touch the lives of millions. I look forward to reading "Sex Secrets for the married woman" Thank you Ms. Smith and may God continue to bless you.

5.0 out of 5 stars A PAGE TURNER, February 7, 2005
This review is from: Robbed Without a Gun (Paperback)
Robbed Without A Gun was a definite page turner....I normally don't read Novels, as a Christian woman when I do find time to read it usually will be spiritual. But someone from my church gave me Ms. Smith's books as a gift, so I said what the heck I might as well read them....They were awesome, I've found myself a new hobby. I loved this book and I read it in one night, I couldn't put it down - Oh my God! The drama had me staying up to 3 in the morning to finish reading it. I can't wait for part 3....

4.0 out of 5 stars Sinful Ways, August 12, 2005

This review is from: Robbed Without a Gun (Paperback)
ROBBED WITHOUT A GUN, the sequel to Deborah Smith's Ministers with White Collars and Black Secrets, is full of drama. At the close of the previous novel Kiyah Simmons discovers that Minister Leon Booker, who she has been dating, is married. She recovers from the devastation with a renewed faith in God, only to backslide deeper into sin.

Kiyah has a "sexual demon" by her own admission, but is not ready to receive her salvation; she is having too much fun. She's lusting after a young minister who preached at her church, has feelings for her close friend Miles and has allowed the lowdown Leon Booker back into her life and her bed, but it does not stop there. Kiyah has too many temptations. How can she possibly lead a virtuous lifestyle?

ROBBED WITHOUT A GUN is definitely a page-turner and kept my interest from cover to cover, but it does have some weaknesses. It was in need of better editing and the profanity, my goodness, I was shocked. This is not your typical christan fiction novel; it demands a genre all its own. The use of slang and then the translation into proper english was a distraction and annoyed me at times, but the storyline kept me reading.

3.0 out of 5 stars High Expectations Shattered, March 31, 2005
This review is from: Robbed Without a Gun (Paperback)
Thoroughly disappointed with the first 130 pages (9 chapters), I had to force myself to read them. I wasn't a terrible book but after Ministers with White Collars and Black Secrets, I was definately expecting more from Deborah Smith. The book started to turn around at chapter 10, but then again there are only 15 chapters. Never one to discourage someone from reading, you have to see what happens between Leon and Kiyah.

I actually rated this book with 3 1/2 stars.

THIS WAS A PAGER TURNER AND CANNOT WAIT FOR PART 3 TO COME OUT.

I MET THE AUTHOR AT A BOOK FAIR IN QUEENS AND HER PUBLICIST RECOMMENDED TO TAKE BOTH BOOKS: WHITE COLLARS WITH BLACK SECRETS WITH ROBBED WITHOUT A GUN BECAUSE THEY GO HAND IN HAND WITH EACH OTHER. NO LIE! WHEN YOU FINISHED WHITE COLLARS WITH BLACK SECRETS YOU WILL WANT TO KNOW WHAT TAKES PLACE IN LEON AND KIYAH EPISODES..................

5.0 out of 5 stars A Page Turner - I need more stars, March 28, 2005
By
This review is from: Robbed Without a Gun (Paperback)
This author did not disappoint me. I need more stars. Normally, I don't bother doing reviews on books I've read and I average 5 to 6 a month. But this book took me on a journey that I will never forget and deserving of a review. Kudos to this author, you're talent in storytelling is unparalleled. Keep up the good work, your first book, Ministers With White Collars ect. was good so I read the sequel, Robbed Without a Gun, and didn't expect you to keep up the momentum, I've found that most authors don't. I will be the first person in line for the final book of this series. Please Hurry! I give you 10 stars.

2.0 out of 5 stars Robbed Without a Gun, January 19, 2008
This review is from: Robbed Without a Gun (Paperback)
This was irritating for her to fallback into cahoots with this ridiculous excuse for a minister. It made her seem, not confused, but greedy to have what somebody else had. This time, she was FULLY aware the man IS MARRIED and a LIAR. Even when she went after the "cousin" -- in the CHURCH OFFICE -- okay, that was a bit much. Then, at the end, I couldn't figure out who she was engaged to - Shine or the "cousin". Ending was frustrating. I didn't care for this one as much as the Ministers with White Collars and Black Secrets. I thought the author was trying to make the title fit the story. People don't use that phrase -- "trying to rob me without a gun" - when someone is trying to climb into their bed. Didn't work as well this time.
