Editorial Reviews

From School Library Journal

PreSchool-K?Robbie is a naughty bunny. Left to baby-sit his younger siblings, he amuses them by playing hide-and-seek?they wait and count, while he violates the safety of the burrow and puts himself in danger outside. By chance, he manages to get back home, just escaping from the fox that pursues him. The illustrations are fine-line drawings with natural colors and an emphasis on close-ups of Robbie's environment, such as leaves and twigs, rather than panoramas. This is a rabbit's-eye view of the world, right down to the fox's teeth. Robbie's adventure seems larger than life, especially with the close-up vantage point. The story is much like Peter Rabbit, but without the exquisite characterization and verbal play of Beatrix Potter's work. Walters's illustrations are lovely, and the book is certainly an appropriate Easter gift, but it is not a necessary addition to library collections.?Ruth K.
