5.0 out of 5 stars Great tunes for the price
I love a lot of the songs on this cd. It was a great price and arrived quickly. I buy used cd's from Amazon all the time. I have never had a problem. Plus I am not pirating music. Artists need to get paid. Highly recommended it especially if you are replacing cd's that have gone missing.

3.0 out of 5 stars Why do soundtracks leave out the best songs?
I am a huge fan of the film; came looking for the CD for the hot version of "La Vie en Rose" that runs over the closing credits... but alas!

4.0 out of 5 stars Soundtracks always seem to miss the mark somehow...., June 29, 2007
This review is from: Robert Altman's Pret-A-Porter (Ready To Wear): Music From The Motion Picture (Audio CD)
And the missed mark on this one was the exclusion of "La Vie en Rose" by Grace Jones, the song that ran during the closing credits. I fail to see how the soundtrck producers ever thought to leave the song off as it capped off the movie so well and would have been a perfect closing song for the cd. Well I solved that problem by making my own cd and adding La Vie en Rose at the end, take that!!!

Overall this is a very good soundtrack and very much a diamond in the rough.

5.0 out of 5 stars 100 times better than the horrible movie., June 6, 1999
This review is from: Robert Altman's Pret-A-Porter (Ready To Wear): Music From The Motion Picture (Audio CD)
This cd was not the smash that it deserved to be. With unreleased tracks by artists such as Janet Jackson (70's Love Groove) and The Rolling Stones (Jump On Top Of Me), you'd expect a monster smash. And it should've been. Ini Kimoze's track "Here Comes The Hotstepper" was the only previously unreleased hit on the CD - the other hit was U2's Lemon (shown here in the beautiful Perfecto Mix - reason enough to buy the cd). Only a couple of blunders on this disc (The NPG, Sam Phillips). But the great tracks make up for those blunders (The M People & Supercat tracks are two of my all-time faves).

5.0 out of 5 stars Here Come the Hottstepper!, November 29, 2011
By
This review is from: Robert Altman's Pret-A-Porter (Ready To Wear): Music From The Motion Picture (Audio CD)
Another great 90's soundtrack. The choicest of artists from the time+U2,Salt'n'Pepa,Janet Jackson,Brand New Heavies,Trence Trent Darby,Imo Kamoze,Sam Phillips, the Crandberries,Cee Cee Piniston..etc. Favorite cuts, Here We Come,Here Come the Hottstepper,Lemon,It's A Natural Thing,These Boots Are Made for Walkin'! The movie is filled with stars especially the lovely Sophia Loren and the Marchello Mastrioni(still handsome as ever). Rupert Graves and Forrest Whitaker share a hot kiss in the Metro. Tracey Ullman,Julia Roberts,Tim Burton.suprise after surprise, not much plot but visually stunning. One to play just to have art in the room while doing chores or entertaining.

4.0 out of 5 stars A great soundtrack!!!, October 24, 2003
By
This review is from: Robert Altman's Pret-A-Porter (Ready To Wear): Music From The Motion Picture (Audio CD)
The movie wasn't so great, but what a soundtrack! Chock full of all genres: from the upbeat dance rhythms of "Here Comes the Hotstepper" by Ini Kamoze and "My Girl Josephine" by Supercat to smooth R&B tunes like "70's Love Groove" by Janet Jackson and "Close to You" by "Brand New Heavies," this album surpasses the film. Other great songs included are "Natural Thing" by M People and "Martha" by Deep Forest. And, the Rolling Stones even make an appearance. Only a few glitches (The New Power Generation and Sam Phillips), but you can overlook those. Definitely an album to add to your collection!

Best songs: "My Girl Josephine" by Supercat and "Close To You" by The Brand New Heavies.

4.0 out of 5 stars I liked the movie AND this soundtrack!, February 4, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Robert Altman's Pret-A-Porter (Ready To Wear): Music From The Motion Picture (Audio CD)
I love this soundtrack and I liked the movie. (I saw it in the theater which may have helped.)

This was my wife's most-played sountrack CD for years. My favorite cut is "These Boots Are Made For Walkin'" by Sam Phillips. Her cover is actually better than the original! We bought this CD when it was brand new and we still put it on for a spin fairly often. It has aged well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Didn't See the Flick, But this Soundtrack is Excellent..., June 26, 2000
This review is from: Robert Altman's Pret-A-Porter (Ready To Wear): Music From The Motion Picture (Audio CD)
...okay, how did I run into this? It's obvious. I was looking for Ini Kamoze's "Here Comes the Hotstepper" and my friendly neighborhood record store clerk directed me to this. I saw Janet, the Brand New Heavies, Terence Trent D'arby, Salt'n'Pepa (I have a luv/hate relationship with those ladies, but that's obviously another review), and Ce Ce Peniston all on one CD--in fact, upon first playing it, I half expected Shaggy or Grace Jones to show up. What's really good? That Supercat track "My Girl Josephine"....but this entire venture is surprisingly very, very good.

2.0 out of 5 stars OTHER THAN CECE PENISTON'S CONTRIBUTION..., June 4, 2006
This review is from: Robert Altman's Pret-A-Porter (Ready To Wear): Music From The Motion Picture (Audio CD)
... with her David Morales remix of "Keep Givin' Me Your Love", a beat-heavy, pop-perfect confection that is criminally absent from her best-of compilations, everything else is forgettable tripe.
