A horse with a good work ethic, and a terrible sneeze!
My 4 year old son finds this book hilarious (and I can't help but twinge a smile at it too)...it is one of his 3 favorites that he requests over and over. But what puts this book on my must recommend to other people list, is that it is a PERFECT book for kids learning to read. (And entertaining books that really have all right ingredients for emerging readers are harder to find than you might think.) My son is learning to read, in good part due to this book. The text repeats, but not in a boring way... more like the refrains that a good oral story teller uses to draw the audience in and build up..."I know this part, it goes like this...NOW what's going to happen?" (Even when they do know what happens next, somehow the build up and "punch line" is still just as satisfying the 704th time...)
If your kid is one who would find the idea of a sneeze that sends cats and dogs flying into the air hilarious, and is not quite reading yet or just learning to read, don't miss this funny, sweet, charmingly old-fashioned book.
