This review is from: Robert E. Howard's Myth maker (Comic)
Fans of Robert E. Howard should pay attention. Roy Thomas, who did so much to bring Conan to life for Marvel Comics, assembled a strong cast of artists to present some of REH's lesser-known stories. Richard Corben, John Bolton, Michael Kaluta and others contribute in varying amounts, from one-page posters to whole stories.
A classic but clever mechanism binds these short pieces together: strangers who come together, and each one tells a tale. These strangers, however come from different planes of existence. Their stories range from ancient man, to an old man's childhood nightmare, to contacts beyond the grave. Extras, including additional artwork and some notes on REH's most ardent biographer, move this beyond mere comics, into true-fan territory. Good fun, if you can find it. -- wiredweird |
