Biography

Formed at the turn of 1989, Thunder have enjoyed an eventful 20 year career that has thankfully witnessed more highs than lows. The release of “Bang!” finds the quintet on a very remarkable high, and still very much masters of their own destiny.
Having met in 1971 when they were 11, Danny and Luke have been playing in bands together since they were 15, so they knew exactly what they were going for… Read more in Amazon's Thunder Store

Editorial Reviews

Formed in 1989, from the ashes of the pop rock combo Terraplane, Thunder were discovered by Duran Duran guitarist Andy Taylor, who produced their first and second LPs. The band quickly established themselves as one of the most exciting live acts in the world, effortlessly making the transition from clubs to theatres to stadiums. With their fusion of music influenced by all the great 70s Classic British Rock bands and upbeat cockney rapport, audiences warmed to them everywhere they went. . 17 years on, Robert Johnson's Tombstone is possibly their most cohesive album to date. The title track is one of the best things they've ever done. It says everything there is to say about THUNDER and where they come from musically. There's nobody else doing what they do right now and this album gets right into the soul of who they are. Frontiers. 2006.

5.0 out of 5 stars Top album, April 15, 2009
This review is from: Robert Johnson's Tombstone (Audio CD)
To me, as a new fan, this is Thunder's best album. I like it from beginning to end and to me there are no fillers, just great songs from start to finish. I'm glad I had the chance opportunity to come across these guys on YouTube, and have since become a serious fan. May never get to see them live, but I'm glad to be able to hear their music - good solid hard rock with a bit of blues and funk thrown in for good fun. Even my wife likes them! Stand out tracks - title track and "Andy Warhol Said", and all the rest are pretty darn good as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Classic British Rock At It's Best., February 12, 2009

This is the follow-up to; The Magnificent Seventh, & the third album the band released since reforming and it's even better.

There's no stand out track here, it's all good. It has it rockers; Robert Johnson's Tombstone & Dirty Dream, ballads; A Million Faces & It's All About You, Also good humor with; The Devil Made me Do It, where the narrator blames the Devil for his behaviour... I love the line "I was all tissues & tension" One of my favourites is; My Darkest Hour, a Thunder ballad where Danny sings just with acoustic guitar and cello for accompaniment-usually Thunder ballads start soft then rock out when it hits the chorus this doesn't & it's better for it.

Since this release Thunder brought out one last studio album; Bang, then announced a farewell tour of Europe & Japan finishing it with a final UK tour in July '09. It's a shame you guys in the U.S. didn't get a chance to see them live, you've missed out on one of the best live bands around.
