A Good Cause,

Folks,
If you're considering buying this calendar please keep this in mind. Tom Doherty Associates is donating a portion of the proceeds, and Robert Jordan's estate is donating 100% of the royalties, to the Mayo Clinic for research on amyloidosis. Robert Jordan personally selected the images just a few weeks before he passed away. If nothing else, you'll be donating to a good cause and you'll get a sample of Robert Jordan's taste in art!

I just got three of these. The artwork is an interesting mix of styles and most of it is very good quality. As chosing the artwork for this calendar was one of the last things RJ did before passing, this is an item that any Wheel of Time fan is going to want in their collection. And all of Robert Jordan's royalties as well as some fo the proceeds from TOR goes to the Mayo clinic. By one for yourself and one or more as gifts.

I was disappointed to find out that the online description for this calendar, at the time of my purchase, did not have pictures of how the art inside looked.
Once I received the calendar, I could see why. They are amateur and some are just really bad. I decided to keep the calendar at work and use it there just because I'm an avid fan of the Wheel of Time series and because there is a good cause behind the sale of them as a product to support the Mayo clinic. However, like I said, the art sucks. My recommendation is not to buy it unless you are thinking of it as a donation to a good cause.

I am a lover of the wheel of time series, When I saw this calendar I got excited. Then I found out the the proceeds go to amyloidosis research, I bought it immediately. When I received it I was disappointed in the actual art inside. I understood it was fan art, but I have seen much better art online on fan sights. I would buy it again 100 times over, I just won't hang it on my wall.

As a mature(37) reader of Fantasy adventure, and a long time die-hard fan of Robert Jordan's works, I am extremely disappointed with this calender series of art. Yes, I was one of you that preordered.. A few of the months are impressive, and the remainder look like run-of-the-mill computer graphics, similar to snapshots from a,ahem, 2004 video game. It appears as a last minute scramble and submission, in order to squeeze a few more dollars from Us Jordan fans.
I have a hard time understanding why Jordan's wife and marketing agents did not browse through Dragonmount or other WOT based web sites to find artist renditions of this soon soon-to-be-classic and legend...... I myself have collected a compilation of these brilliant and beautiful displays of WOT love. Some are extemely acurate to various scenes. Why wouldn't the Jordan machine seek to engage some of these talented free-hand artists? Your guess is as good as mind. Even Darrell K. Sweet's works appear somewhat sloppy towards the end of the series. How horrid is the sketchy Winter Heart, Knife of Dreams and The Gathering Storm anyway?!?! It looks like Perrin is becoming a dwarf, and Rand goes from tall, strong and cold to a light-weight, teenage, croaking duffuss. The perspectives and size relationships are askew. Come on!!!!

I bought this for my wife's birthday and she absolutely loved it! The art is top-notch and the extra notes and details in the calendar bring a smile each time to you notice them.

I really enjoyed this calendar. The letter from Robert Jordan in the front brought me to tears. I did feel that some people's ideas of how the characters look is different than mine, but they were very well rendered and beautifully crafted. My compliments to the artists who worked hard at what they love.
