I saw this on HBO last night and it was hysterical! There are plenty of bits in here that are well-written and perfectly delivered. If you're a stand-up comedy fanatic, then this belongs in your Amazon shopping cart. If you're poor, it belongs in your wish list.

I have always been an avid fan of Robert Klein. He captivates audiences with his many stories about ssmen, does musical numbers (medical marijuana and I cant stop my leg). His insight on today's society, including medical procedures, keeps you laughing so much you stomach will hurt. He plays a mean harmonica and has a great singing voice. I cam watch this and all of his DVD's again and again. Definitely worth the cost.

I saw this on HBO earlier. After that I was trying to find whether there is an audio book or other format of sound recording, so I can listen to it in my car. DVD doesn't quite work for this purpose.

For the content, I think it was fairly good. I like the way he put up those musical style songs. While not necessarily every single sentence in the lyrics is funny, I do see the difficulties of such a work. Also, the concluding segment was quite impressive in my opinion, which triggered my intention of getting a soundtrack.

I was a little surprised to see the negative reviews. Stand up comedies are hard, and there are parts of shows I found it less than funny even for my favorite comedians, and from one of my favorite shows. I found this one better than fair enough already.

This is not Mr. Kleins best HBO special but so what, its ROBERT KLEIN,come on give the guy a break, you try & do what he does at 69. Every time he's at L.I. comedy clubs which is usually twice a year,I'll go & watch him perform, his act never gets stale. After each show he signs autographs for free & will talk to you at great lengths time permitting. One of the greatest comedians alive today, the man,the leg,Robert Klein.

This review is based on the HBO special from which the DVD is taken. I am a hard-core Robert Klein fan. I have his audio CDs (not always easy to find) and own the HBO Specials 1975-2005. I've been a fan since I saw his third HBO special, "Robert Klein at Yale" when it first came out in 1982 (most of which I've committed to memory). Since then, I've seen/heard pretty much everything he's done. I consider him one of the top five stand-ups of all time; a true pioneer.

That said, "Unfair and Unbalanced" is one of his poorest efforts. After the intermittently disappointing "Amorous Busboy," I had hoped for a rebound but "Unfair" confirms for me that Klein has joined the ranks of the once-greats whose material and approach have become stale and outdated. In the same way that Carlin became a curmudgeonly grouch in his later years, and Richard Pryor's post-pyrotechnic material completely lacked the raw edge of his early work, Klein's delivery and material have become contrived and almost predictable, kind of like that funny uncle who tells the same joke he's been telling for 40 years but in a slightly different way than he did last Thanksgiving.

If you're a die-hard like me you'll want to see this but, if not, get the 1975-2005 specials instead and check out Klein in his prime.

Unfair and Unbalanced is Robert Klein's 2010 HBO stand-up special. Klein is no HBO rookie - he actually filmed the first HBO special 35 years ago. The film left me wanting more. Klein opens with a song compelling President Obama to not follow in former President Clinton's footsteps and to "keep it in his pants." This is weird. Its like the joke is lost on me because there hasn't been any Lewinsky-esque rumors about the current President. The stand-up offers a few giggles and then more musical interludes. An ode to medical marijuana falls flat also. I'm sure Klein has some good work out there, so I recommend seeing that. Only a die-hard can appreciate this one.

UNFUNNY.

How anyone could find this even the slightest bit amusing is beyond me. He is like the kid who tries to be funny in middle school. Weakest material ever.
