Excellent Stone,

This is a high-quality sharpening stone. I have been able to put a good edge on some very stubborn knives with this and a razor edge on the better ones. Combine this with a strop and you are good to go.

It works well and is of high quality. It is very small and the wooden box is not meant to transport the stone around in. The stone rattles around in the box. I can get a knife very sharp (cuts through paper and takes off most arm hair in one swipe), but to get shaving sharp you need a hard black or translucent stone. Overall the money would have been better spent on a larger stone and a soft/hard black combo.

It will sharpen a knife but you will need a finer polishing stone to get a razor's edge. I will be ordering either a black or translucent stone to go along with it.On another note, Amazon's "free shipping" is becoming less desirable than actually paying the shipping costs elswhere. I ordered this stone for $29.20 from Amazon, LLC. and selected the free shipping option...which of course means I agreed to wait an extended amount of time to receive the product. Upon returning to post my review I saw that the stone was being sold by Deerso instead of Amazon, LLC. for $22.40. It's understandable that Amazon's shipping costs are rolled into the price of the product but should not be called free shipping unless the total charges are less than the product sold elswhere + shipping charges. That was the case when Amazon first started offering "free shipping" but lately their prices have risen to the point where you are no longer geetting a better deal by selecting free shipping. In many cases you can find the product(s) elswhere, pay the shipping charges, receive the product in a week and ultimately pay less than a purchase with Amazon's "free shipping".
