Designed for flat or convex surfaces, the Kunz Flat Spokeshave has two adjustment knobs for precise tuning and setting of the blade. It is designed to be pushed or pulled with both hands to smooth and shape wood in places where a hand plane cannot do the job. This spokeshave is made in Germany.

Like a plane with handles, a spokeshave makes it easy to control the depth of cut for a perfect surface.Two styles available: Use the flat face model (Rockler# 34388) for work on outside curves, and round face style (Rockler# 35281) for inside curves.Comes with 2-1/16" wide blade made from high carbon steel. Honing required before use. 10" long cast-iron tool body has 45° bed angle and 25° grind angle. With two adjustable screws for setting depth of cut. Replacement blade is universal and can be used with both the flat and round spokeshave. Sold separately, Rockler# 36840.

not the tool for the job,

The performance of the tool is compromised by manufacturing compromises. The body of the tool is cast and painted, which is OK for the handles but the blade rests on this uneven surface which results in chattering accross the wood. The tool also clogs up immediatly. For the time I spent trying to tune it up to make it useful, I could have bought a tool with a machined bed and a high-quality blade. Google spokeshave and buy a better tool - that what I ended up doing.
Also - skip the honing guide offered as a companion purchase. The blade is too short to fit in the guide, so it is useless.

This is a great little tool. I bought it to shape guitar necks and it works perfectly. Even out of the box, the blade was really sharp, and with a bit of honing, turned scary sharp. This is a great deal! It's a shame these tools aren't more popular.
